As the debates on immigration reform and gun control heat up, the Republican Party and the National Rifle Association have problems ahead, Paul Krugman predicted on Sunday. Those problems, he suggested, have to do with how the two groups fundamentally wor

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Harry Bradford. Mr. Krugman hit the nail on the head. The GOP/TeaParty will lose on the immigration issue and they, long the NRA, will be on the losing side with gun control legislation. Read and noted.

Noted. Thanks, Cal. Kudos to Paul Krugman!
Gotta say that when I saw the title of this article, I started laughing so hard I nearly fell off my chair. Still wiping the tears. Some member of the GOP needs to write a new book, "How to Kill a Political Party," and just list the horrendous bills they've introduced in state legislatures and our Congress....with all the idiotic, hateful quotes made my the many pundits and politicians in the past few years.

I have to laugh..the people calling old white people racist are the most racist of all. The latinos that only want help for latinos...the various groups that come from other countries but won't hire anyone but their own race/culture. All the colors of people that want something for nothing beat the drum of racism but cannot themselves live up to the standards they would hold others to.

Paul Krugman offers his personal opinion and I give it a huge "big deal!" People are in our country illegally draining our taxpayer funded social programs. If we are to address illegal immigration we have to fix the borders FIRST. Who better than our returning veterans who dsperately need jobs could do an excellent job of protecting the borders? We need to fix the problem first and then turn to those illegals who are in our country, get them to do the paperwork to become legal so that they can become taxpaying Americans.

If we don't fix the borders first, the illegals entry into our country will soar....once again.

We need to help our own Americans first before we do the big group hug when we literally no longer have the funds to pay for the cost of illegals in our country.

The liberals don't seem to understand that the first thing you do is FIX THE PROBLEM. Once that is done then full speed ahead to take care of those illegal families who have been in our country for years.

Always a big question in my mind...."Why didn't the illegals do the necessary paperwork before entering our country?" Are you aware of how difficult it is for an American to get citizenship in Mexico and other countries?

This is an old battered issue that continues to be mishandled. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that in order to fix illegal immigration in our country we have to close our borders otherwise it will be like spitting into the ocean.

Here is something what Krugman also said a few days ago. Off topic, but very concerning.
I wonder how many pople will agree with him on this issue!

Paul Krugman: 'Death Panels and Sales Taxes is How We Do This'

Earlier in the evening, Krugman had already vocalized his satisfaction with President Obama’s apparent lack of concern over the exploding cumulative deficit. However, in a moment of brutal honesty, the esteemed Princeton professor revealed his long term prognosis. According to the professor:

Eventually we do have a problem. That the population is getting older, health care costs are rising…there is this question of how we’re going to pay for the programs. The year 2025, the year 2030, something is going to have to give…. We’re going to need more revenue…. Surely it will require some sort of middle class taxes as well..... We won’t be able to pay for the kind of government the society will want without some increase in taxes…. on the middle class, maybe a value added tax…. And we’re also going to have to make decisions about health care, doc pay for health care that has no demonstrated medical benefits . So the snarky version…which I shouldn’t even say because it will get me in trouble, is death panels and sales taxes is how we do this.
