I have one large cup in the morning with lots of syrups and milk. It get's me started as I'm NOT a "morning" person at all. Doubt I'll give it up anytime soon.

> the world's most popular mood-altering drug
and one of the most-traded 'commodities' (some even say #2, after oil)

addicts *always* '''love''' what they are addicted to

Love coffee and it can be grown in a way so as not to harm songbirds. We finally found an honest small business roaster in Texas and just love her coffees. The trick is to buy nothing but certified shade grown coffee in order to be bird friendly. many dance around that but Tree Frog Coffees certifies each of ots products. Hope y'all don't mind my mentioning this wonderful source of good coffee. Kit, you can get a basket for your Keurigs and use the real stuff!

Even though I have no funds for "extras", the on e thing that I do spend money on are 5lb bags of organic, shade grown coffee beans. I use a drip with a thermal pot. The only time I get a headache from coffee is when I have many cups of someone else's "regular" brand. Gotta remember not to do that!

Love both coffee and tea but tend to drink more tea. Love the smell of coffee, remember the smell of it as a child when it was made in a silver percolator.

I always need that one cup of coffee early in the morning, or else I can get really grouchy! My all time favorites are the Cafe Du Monde French Roast, illy's espresso and Starbucks Extra Bold Italian Roast. When I don't use a drip coffee maker, I usually turn to my trusty Bialetti stove top espresso maker. It's the best! As for tea....I can't stand the stuff!

I really do understand that a person's taste can be too unrefined not to appreciate "Teas" if they have a preference for "Starbucks." I say "Teas" as there are so many different and naturally varying tasting teas, from the distinctive Lap Sang Sou Chong to the delicate flavoured Yunnan Chinese blends to the consistently good Ceylon Dilmah brand. There are, also, teas grown in Australia that rival these. Do you realise that it is possible to hallucinate from drinking tea? it is akin to a Gold top mushroom "Trip" , Just drink, excessively, green tea on a very hot sweaty day. My daughter brought back from China one of their best teas. They don't seem to export it. It was a religious experience in every cup. As with all good teas it should be drunk without adding milk or sugars, if it is good it should be drunk like a good wine or brandy , a sip at a time and have it linger on the way down. Try that with coffee, any coffee, and your mouth will be like a sewer pipe, and I do enjoy my own brewed coffee.

Tom E. my apologies, if I have somehow insulted your "tasteful" sensibilities by expressing my dislike of tea, I'm sorry, I meant to say teas. I'm well aware of the different varieties of teas grown through out the world, and I have tasted some since my partner happens to be an avid tea drinker. So, no, I don't consider myself unrefined, just selective and passionate of the things I do happen to love, which in this case happens to be a good demitasse of espresso. I'm not really interested in getting high with my coffee, but I do agree that sometimes, having a good cup of coffee can also be a religious experience! I wont go into detail of why I dislike tea(s); that would be rude to the tea lovers of this post, and really, it's just a personal preference, and nothing else.

Makes for interesting reading. What bothers me is that studies come up with many conflicting results and we're left with loads of data to sift through. I guess the best thing (as always) is to let your body and common sense guide you.

But whatever it is, always take it in moderation.
Frankly speaking, we can't live without coffee. It really makes our day!
