So the NRA operates as a wing of the GOP machine, converting campaign bribes into votes as the nexus for influence-peddling between Republicans, their rich donors, and the particularly paranoid of its base.

How about the 'dark money campaign' in this nation known as gun control? We should kick out all anti-gun politicians for treason against the Constitution and evict the UN for foisting off that stupid 'small arms treaty'!

"Chuck Norris, a spokesman for the NRA's Trigger the Vote campaign, warned apathetic gun owners, "I'll come looking for the people who sat this election out."

I KNEW there was a reason I never liked that man. Hah. Not surprising at all to me that the forces of darkness found each other, even if it was fumbling around in the dark. There can be no good come of anything associated with the Koch boys or the NRA. Both sides are among the most self-centered, selfish people on the planet, concerned with nothing but what they want and they do not care of the cost to others in suffering and in horror. The complete example of how not to be a human being.

Noted. Thanks, Cal. So, we have the combined forces of Rove, Kochs, NRA....working to gain more funding to protect guns. There's a special place in hell for those guys. We had the Assault Weapons Ban in place for 10 yrs., and it worked. Not long after it expired, people started buying up stuff that had been previously banned, and you see how well that's turning out.

Gee, it's not like there isn't mega bucks coming in from the likes of Soros funded groups, the Joyce Foundation, the current Obama slush fund that was his campaign organization, and the Left Wing media freebies (which is the vast majority of the media) pushing the anti 2nd Amendment propaganda like the phony stats pushed by those sources and regurgitated by Dear Leader Obama about "background checks" that even the Washington Post gave three Pinocchios to. Odd how approved "choice" (killing babies - aka abortion) that actually always kills and isn't in the Constitution is a "right" but a specifically stated Constitutional right that has its own amendment isn't. Of course this discussion, besides pushing more control by an out of control government against its citizens, manages to take the attention away from a real death maker miscalled the "Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care" Act that will kill more in one year than guns do may a mega factor..

Noted. What IS IT with the NRA? They've had a lot of pull since before I was born (and that's quite awhile ago). I was never very aware of them when I lived in the Northeast. But the gun control issue is glaring me in the face not far from where Trayvon Martin was murdered. Ignorance appears to be bliss here. As for the Koch brothers...that's a topic for another day after I've gotten some sleep.

Doesn't it seem as though greedy, self-serving manipulators like the Koch Brothers and Karl Rove are behind just about everything that's wrong with this country?

According to Frank Smyth, in an article that appeared in Mother Jones:

"Long before Newtown, and even before the bloodbath at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, a survey conducted in May 2012 by Republican pollster Frank Luntz found that most gun owners, including current and former members of the NRA, favor tighter gun regulations such as universal criminal background checks. And according to an ABC/Washington Post poll published on Tuesday, 86 percent of gun-owning households support a law requiring background checks at gun shows to close the so-called "loophole." So what motivates NRA leaders to remain so out of step with their constituency, flatly rejecting any discussion of legal reform?

One answer may be their ties to the $11.7 billion gun industry."

It's not what the public wants. It's what a "select few" want. So who's running this country anyway? We need to flood the offices of our representatives with our own demands until they hear us loud and clear. It's the squeaky wheel that gets the oil...

`...Cox cautions that Obama's "rich, gun-hating friends" like Bloomberg "will shower him with the money he needs to strip you of your gun rights." ...`

And the lies continue! The NRA and Wayne LaPierre are so good at twisting the truth and outright lying! Mr Obama has not said anything about taking away guns or constitutionally enshrined rights of gun ownership. What he has said is `let`s put safety first with universal background checks, assault weapon bans and limiting the size of magazines`. And if the average American thinks that the NRA represents them, think again. They represent the weapons manufacturers! They are doing the bidding of the Kochs, Norquist, Rove et al, part of the so called American elite.

It is all about greed and power, nothing more! These guys don`t give a rat`s ass for anyone or anything but their wallets!

It's worth noting that until the NRA joined up with the gun manufacturers and got a cut of every gun sale in America they were solidly FOR gun control. Dealing with the devil makes you a devil and they should have lost their tax exemption back in '77.

Oh, whenever you mention George Soros and his supposedly large contributions to good causes (sadly untrue) you ignore the Koch Brothers who only support bad causes and give more than 100 times the money Soros does. And another point for the irrational john, in the 30s the Supreme Court determined that the ONLY well regulated militia referred to in the 2nd amendment was the National Guard, which means that you do NOT have a right to own firearms, just a privelege, just like a driver's license. It means thaat only the National Guard has a right to guns, and only while on active duty. Even law enforcement doesn't have a RIGHT to be armed.
