That should save some money, but I'm certain more kids have complained than like it.

Why not? The kids can eat what they want at home.

This is great. Want kids excited about more veggies and fruit...start a community garden right there. I 've seen that before. And the kids are usually thrilled to eat what they have grown!

I worry that the children will always get the nutrition they need, especially the protein.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Tara Culp-Ressler. Interesting news indeed and would enjoy hearing if this program endures into next year. Read and noted.

If the food tastes good, kids will eat it! I hope the program does well so it will expand to other schools!

Guess that moves veganism from the cult catrgory to the Religion category since they now have enough power to force thier ideology on to others. Yes, Yes if the parents or their kids do not like it they can go through to extra cost, work and hassel to bring natural human food to school. And by natural human food I mean an Omnivore diet.

Makes good sense. Vegetarian food is more wholesome, it does contain adequate protein, is good for the environment and is bound to reduce food poisoning enormously.
Good on them.
