Plastic is forever, with virtually every piece of petroleum based plastic ever made still in existence. That's why it's so critical to our oceans and beaches that we dramatically reduce our use of plastics, starting with today.

Thank you for your support! At iPetitions, your voice counts.

I haven't used plastic bags in many years. I think all states should have a fine of five cents per plastic bag.

I just received a phone message from my super market. I frozen pizza I had purchased was being recalled - seems there is PLASTIC IN THE CHEESE! It's not the plastic as much as what we do with it that threatens to damage the world!

Years ago...the Girl Scout troops collected plastic bags......cut each bag in one continuous strip......crochet the strips, and made plastic rugs.....really quite nice........these were nice to sit on when camping.....I just may start saving and cutting.up plastic bags again.......Thanks for the article.......

Signed and noted - hope that NYC goes plastic free - at least the supermarkets, although at least most of them will recycle - I don't drink anything from plastic containers - even if I go thirsty!
