Copts are being persecuted in Egypt. So, what's new about that? This has been the norm in our "beloved homeland" since at least the 1970s.

Thanks Cal. Sadly, religion contributes to hate and murder. When will it ever end?

If we had no religions at all, the world might be a more peaceful place.

The root of all evil is not MONEY. It's RELIGIONS! (Superstitions all of them)

So much for the much vaunted " Arab Spring." It seems that they have simply been given a free hand to persecute non-Muslims.

How odd is it that every religion seems to advocate, at its core, peace, loving one's neighbour, and generally being a good person. And how very little it works ! ! ! ! ! Do we all need someone to hate, or are we all so afraid that no-one outside our own religions (if we have one) will be peaceful and good back to us? Yes, Carol, it's PEOPLE, not religions in the end.

'Copts, Sunnis, Shias, Bahais, Nubians and Bedouins toppled former President Hosni Mubarak, yet the following day they found themselves lacking a united strategy for the future.' Let's hope they find a common goal of a better future for all.

Noted and shared.

Beautifully distorted by human being as usual. Religions and their religious texts are interpreted and diluted by the actions of human beings. Every religious text points back to you, the reader, and how you struggle with yourself, not how you're supposed to struggle with other human beings with attrition, conflict, and wars. The conflict is within.

It's quite extraordinary how humans have been doing this for centuries, then having the gall and temerity to blame a god. Atheists must think they have a simple ride, as a lot of religious folk really do shoot their own foot, by their own behaviour.

Religare means uniting the soul with God. Where is the question to hate our brothers?

Throughout history man has persecuted and killed his fellow man because he worshipped the same God but by a different name. Or even the same God by the same name but a different ideology.
Oblivious to the eternal truth that LOVE is the fulfilling of the Law and without which one's faith amounts to nothing.

Religion is the curse of mankind. How can you believe in GOD after so many religious wars. It is not GOD but the power of religious leaders who use religion to gain power, (Islam and the Catholic Church are the biggest offenders). The old testament says "Thy shalt not kill", but it is OK to do so in war to protect the religious monster and it blew out to politics....GOD save the King(Queen), GOD bless America, GOTT mit uns, etc. Power in the name of God. A loophole in the Holy Bible, "Thy shalt not kill", but kill anyway. The one who kills the most is the winner, eg. Dresden, to get Winston's figures right and blamed Joseph. Apart from that, let GOD judge the dictators and war mongers and put them away, no such luck? Rot in HELL.
