How is it @&#^$@# possible that all that garbage is lying around and ends in the oceans??
Is it too much asked to dump the garbage in a proper way?

Very disappointing. How could the U.S. Coast Guard oppose this ban. I thought they are here to protect our oceans & waterways, how can they explain such a vote?
Cal, thanks for keeping us up to date on these matters.

Thanks for sharing this. Noted, signed and shared.

It's probably a completely unrealistic aim, but to have all our oceans clean and clear of chemicals, debris and muck from humanity, and only have it containing that which its own indigenous lifeforms (i.e. fish, etc.!) deposited, I think would make for a much cleaner planet... it might even reduce the number of diseases prevalent in our world.

We will go to the ends of the earth to pollute and destroy. This gives me a heavy heart. I cannot believe that anyone thinks this is ok. Do we have to ruin everything we've been given ? Sad and disgusting.

When are we as a global people going to realize that one of the hallmarks of maturity is the simple act of taking care of one's trash responsibly? The bigger issue involved is reversing the cultivated attitude that it is acceptable to be a "throw away" society. As a larger group, we have embraced instant convenience over the consequences of that convenience. What would be wise would be to demand a lifestyle that produces less trash and more constructive ways to deal with it.

It seems shipping interests might have paid off the Coast Guard to oppose the rule against garbage dumping. Whatever the reason, that's completely indefensible! Signed and shared, thanks, Cal.
