Indonesia's Largest Coal Plant Will Be Built Despite Protests, Minister Says

Indonesia will go ahead with construction of what is set to be its largest coal-fired power plant in Batang, Central Java next year, a senior government official has said, downplaying opposition from environmental groups and the local community.

not good at all.age not available. This would need an immediate intervention by the UN Secretary General and all major countries. That is abominable and the Indonesian government should be sued by an international court by breaching the Kyoto Protocol in very violent manner. There is no excuse for Indonesia to do this, but just the want of money and cheap energy, to hell with CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases. Indonesia is proving to the rest of the world it doesn't give a damn, and what if other third world countries followed its lead? We would have a major climatological calamity in our hands at the end of this decade. That is more than against the current, that is a crime against the entire world.

I agree thats bad someone needs to start making these countries pay in some way or boycotting them when they
deliberately start projects that will cause more damage to global warming Its not as if they dont know what it does

It happens in my country too, but we haven't given up yet! It s terrible but corrupted politicians plus corrupted officers are powerful while people like me and poor people out there IS SO SMALL!!! Thanks Cal.
