Signed although this petition doesn't say anything about how this is going to change anything. Would be nice if there were options listed that the park service could do to stop this behavior. I have seen it many times on hikes through parks and other trails.

Public parks belong to all of this. If I see anyone writing or otherwise marking any city, state or national park I will report them to a police officer or park ranger. This petition isn't going to be useful if we all don't do something!

Signed. You know, maybe it would help if Congress would quit cutting funds for stuff like park services in favor of more tax cuts for the rich. And pay raises for themselves. Then our national parks could hire more rangers who could then maybe stand a chance of catching vandals.

Unless we electrify every tree, every rock, every cactus, so that with the first burst of spray paint the vandal.gets a shock that is heavy enough to stop the behavior, nothing will change without more rangers. And I can just see the GOP allowing more rangers to be hired. NOT! If we put security cameras with motion detectors everywhere we might be able to shame them after the fact, but the damage would be done. And I also find it difficult to believe that all that electricity wouldn't be harmful in itself. Of course we could, as Gloria says, arm bears. They couldn't be more dangerous than humans.

I don't understand why people go into national parks just to destroy it. One day were are going to wake up and see nothing green at the rate where going.

I know I'm old, but in my older years I get more upset about the disrespect that people show to even their own homes, cities, streets, sidewalks et al - but advancing that same disrespect to our heritage and historic vestiges, is utterly abusive to all who are mindful of both history and the maintenance of our heritage - how can we live with people who have no respect for these things and what did we do to create people that have this disrespect in their conscience - it becomes a sociological study!
