A world heritage site in the Solomon Islands is "in danger" due to logging, warns the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

Thanks, Cal!
Why does the news not surprise me at all ... For the last decade each government has started to exploit its natural recourses more and more greedily, and now they are racing the destroy even the World Heritage Sites and all. But the same has happened is Australia with the Great Barrier Reef and the coal port plans, and UNESCO made some noise then, too. What does ti take to make the governments to realize that we cannot take more from the nature than it produces, and that the capacity of this planet has been reached decades ago, now there are just too many mouths to feed, too many cars to drive, too much demand for gasoline and oil, etc. The same applies to Solomon Islands and their urge to log the UNESCO site. It is just like the last days of a major sale: "Everything must go!" Even though I have never been to Solomon Islands, I have traveled widely by the web. I have seen videos and photos of the site, and it is breathtaking. Their greed know no boundaries...

They will stop at nothing! If it isn't fracking that will fatten their wallets, it's logging, no resource is precious or protected if the corporatists own the planet!
