Let's hope that the international community is now finally waking up to this reality and will act decisively to protect what is left of Africa's elephants before it's too late.

I sure hope contries will come together to save the elephant. Not much has been donated so far. I would like to see poachers face the death penalty. Maybe that would be a deterrant.

When around 30% of the seizures in the world occurs in the USA, it's hard to blame other countries. And while most of these were small seizures, it's still 30% of the total, so I wouldn't be all smug that it's not a significant illegal trade (it's still 30%).

As usual we humans wake up when animals are nearly extinct and then try to save the few that are left! This initiative should have been put in place years ago, not when there are hardly any left! It is our duty to have protected them!

I'm not sure that making ivory products illegal will do anything other than drive up the price and the allure.

Now that this is being talked about world wide, it sounds more hopeful.

The problem is RICH A**HOLES! They want rhino horn or elephant tusks, and don't give a damn about the animals. Of course, foodies eat foie gras and caviar, and don't give a damn about the suffering and deaths of those animals either. There has to be a way for the world to shame the flaunting of wealth through the ownership of tusks and horns- but then, the countries in Africa allow hunting of elephants and rhinos to rich a**holes- so what the hell are the rest of us supposed to do?????

Will the World Act to Save the African Elephant Before It's Too Late? I'd change the question slightly,
Will the World Act to Save the African Elephant and all the Earth Before It's Too Late? I hope so.

We members of Care2 are not a few. Millions, well?

We are doing what we can. We are connected with all the activists in the world, We are millions if we also count the more solitary activists we don't hear about who distribute food to the food banks, provide a listening ear to those who are trying to find a way to survive, risk their freedoms and are true martyrs to our cause suffering from arrests and sometimes giving their heroic lives for the cause. Also, sooo important are those families trying to raise their children to be honorable humans. YES, we are many!

We are doing what we can do. We may very well save our Mother Earth and her children. If we do, we will look back at these glorious, challenging times and be able to say, "We helped."

If we don't succeed, soul lives on. We will know we did what we could do. We will know we tried. We will be all the better for having tried.....there are other planes, other dimensions. We will experience the dreams for which we sacrificed. Soul, which is life energy, does not die.

We will not be among those who will say in remorse, "Oh, if only! If only! If only I had it to do over again.
Nor will we be with those who, seeing the results of their own selfish egos' will mourn, in darkness and in guilt for a while as they learn their bitter lessons the hard way.

We will hug one another and say, we tried,.

Together we will love and care for our new dimension of love.
