On Thursday, three Texas Republicans filed a measure that would criminalize abortion services after a fetal heartbeat can be detected -- which typically occurs around six weeks of pregnancy, before many women even know they're pregnant.

Texas Legislators are always up to NO GOOD.

How could we word a petition demanding that they take longer vacations?

I'm amazed and am in disbelief. Everyday, it gets worse with these absolute nuts. I thought I heard this on the news last night right after I heard that asshat Perry running his mouth about signing the other bill, but I thought it was a joke. Noted and shared.

If this applied only to Republicans, I'd be all for it - we have enough nut cases, thank you. But as it is, all this will do is take women's rights back to the Dark Ages. We females have GOT to stop this now - we fought too long and too hard to go back now.

I guess there are no other problems in Texas. The economy and the environment are perfect so they only have time to terrorize women.

Most women usually don't realize after six weeks that they are pregnant. So this makes no sense.

I'm really glad that I don't live in Texas.

concur with what Birgit says, this is just a way to deny any abortions....

There's only 1 thing the women of Texas can do, stop having sex particularly the wives of the disgusting Repugnant legislators who created the bill. If women in Texas stopped having sex, they could get bill passed that they want, just saying....

It's about time the women in Texas united and put a stop to this. Get these men out of there.

so, if after the 6 weeks, the heart beat is no longer when the fetus has died in the womb, can the woman have an abortion to get rid of the remains, or have to carry it through the 9 months. I'm not sure if no heartbeat mean a miscarriage or continued growth...just using it as an example.
What if a tumor was also found saying that the fetus is already growing...what happens then? tumor or fetus?

Believe it or not, there are millions of Americans who do not believe in abortion. They simply believe that it is murder and against their religious beliefs.

Well, keep it going Texas and make Andy Borowitz right! Texas Weighs Ban on Women. Then what would all thosse horny cowboys do?

@ Diane O --- Believe it or not Diane, there are millions of Americans who believe in a woman's RIGHT to choose. They believe in freedom of choice and believe that they should not have to abide by someone else's religious view when it comes to their body. Ever heard of the separation of church and state? It's in the constitution as part of the 1st amendment. Religious beliefs should not be used to establish public policy. The US is not a theocracy yet!

It's not about Religious views at's about caring about a human life besides the woman's choice. I am glad they passed this bill at least some innocent lives will be saved! I happen to think there are a lot of very selfish women today who do not consider the life of an innocent unborn child and yet will scream bloody murder for anyone who kills an animal! WHAT is wrong with this picture!?

Taking responsibility and using some form of birth control, to me, is a better way.
