long time coming (this water theft was the subject of the movie "Chinatown") and two decades after a court order to reduce diversions
"100th anniversary of the aqueduct that helped transform the city into a metropolis of nearly 4 million people and turned portions of the Owens Valley and Mono Basin into arid wastelands."
DWP Board of Commissioners on Tuesday is scheduled to vote on the settlement,

Noted but it just goes to show you that a return to what was is never 100% perfect.

Wonder if any of them realize the truth of 'you can never go home again'...things may not go back as they originally were. Curiuos what surprises will be found after the restoration of that amount of water. Thanks.

What a terrible shame that an incredible amounot of power will be needed to do the work on this restoration project. Why and oh WHY can't govenments being to see the importance of ecological issues and soeedily intervene in environmenatle issues?... I suppose they will when they have finally destroyed the planet and it is too late!! It is the same world-wide. Here, in Australia we are about to have an election and the policies of all but the Green's party would make you weep! There is nothing in their policies to stop live export or mining or de-forestation.. They only care about growth and trade relationships with the Far East. It makes me so SICK!
