I buy coffee from Thanksgiving Coffee company- they have several offerings of shade grown organic coffee called "Birder's Blend" that encourages the coffee growers to protect the tree canopy for bird habitat- growing the coffee in the trees' shade. If we all try to buy shade grown, organic, and fair trade coffee, we can encourage good stewardship of the land yet still help impoverished people make a living.
