A deadly dog attack on a four-year-old boy in Bucharest has brought new attention to an old problem: Romania's hundreds of thousands of stray dogs. Government plans for mass euthanasia have animal welfare activists up in arms.

the problem is that they need to spay and neuter the dogs there, so they can eliminate the problem. I am not sure if this is a country where people want dogs as pets, or one that sees them as pests.

The government and the people are to blame Both are irresponsible The people for being irresponsible dog owners and the government for turning a blind eye for so long and not bringing out spay and neuter programs and making harsher punishments for people dumping their pets Its not the dogs fault that now there are so many
but they will bear the brunt of others negligence and all be killed

The stupidy is staggeriong. This has been a problem in Romania for over 20 years. Twenty five thousand dollars to s/n these animals never occired to them.
Round the dogs up, kill them, and let the cycle begin again.

Typical that they want to kill when other methods could have been implemented instead. Sadistic bastards.

i'm sorry to hear about the little boy...but killing all the stray dogs is not the solution, it's really effed up, quite frankly. they shouldn't have to resort to such extremes.
