PLEASE WATCH THIS VIDEO! In 2007, Anne Mahlum started Back on My Feet in Philadelphia. She uses running to help homeless men and women change the way they see themselves so they can make real changes in their lives

Wow! I live in Philadelphia and was not aware of this organization! Glad to know of the great work it's accomplishing. I recognized the streets she runs - exciting stuff.
It's also worth watching the next video - "Return to Salvation Mountain" if you want to fall in love with a great old guy and his vision.

A woman that saw a need and used her talents to help others. Not everyone is able to do that which is why it is too bad that when our towns and cities had real Social Workers a lot of people with various issues these Social Workers were able to help. But with the cut backs over the years, and this is something that has been going on in bits and pieces for over 40 years, not just since the economic crash, that was the big fall, be this Country has in little bits adding up over time been carved out from the inside.

One can't be having 95% of all the gains going to the top 1% that leaves only 5% of the entire wealth created in the Country going to all those who are working, those who are retired or disabled, so what is left for all else those who are on hard times, for our infrastructure, for the advancement of society at large. We have a lot of these Sacrifice Zones around this Country and when one lived in a Sacrifice Zone that means they too were sacrificed. Whole cities being gutted out to look like war zones, rural communities left vacant, towns now are sinking into the ground due to fracking.

This is one amazing woman, but she can't do it all, we DO need a Community of support around us all, from a local level right up to the State and Federal level. But we are being gutted as a Country, one can't have 95% of all wealth that the 99% earn going to such a small segment of society, only the top 10% are making gains and the top 1% are beyond doing well, there is true gluttony there.

Inequality in America

Inequality For All

It Will Not Get Better Until There is A Real People's Movement Get out and Run with A Cause Like This Woman By Standing up on November 5 and raise your voice in Unity

In the meantime Sheila you might want to find out if there is a place you can donate to what this woman is doing obviously these small grants must come from someplace via private donations.
