Well John I hope you enjoy paying for these workers Food Stamps because they don't get paid enough to not be on Food Stamps. Maybe you enjoy Corporate Welfare but I don't. Franchise or not, people if working should be paid enough in wage so they are not qualifying for Food Stamps.
And besides John, I did my research and the average McDonald's franchise, after expenses, makes $916k. Now don't you think that they could afford to pay their employees enough so they don't qualify for poverty programs? I do. You run a private business pay your staff wages to keep them off of poverty programs.
You know a major Labor Movement happened around the turn of the previous Century as whole families had to work in the Mills in order to just eat. They worked sun up to sun down and paid so little they were still living in squalor and not getting enough to eat while the owners of the Mills or the Coal Mines lived in opulence.

I know someone who has been working in upper management at McDonald's now for about 12 years. She still has to work a second job to support her family.
Scott haakon; You are an idiot. Working at McDonald's or Burger King or anywhere else where you manage a whole district of chain stores and employees are NOT "jobs with no future." Some people (not usually the ones who SHOULD) make good money and it does indeed require very good management skills and long hours, much more than you could ever comprehend.

This is terrible. Take flights with the airlines and give the money to your low paid employees. Or bonus checks, Christmas presents, help with college, etc. Just as long as you are sitting in high cotton, who cares about the rest of the people that work for you. And the bad part, we are supporting you by eating at McDonald's.

Y'know, between this & the story about the mom with 2 autistic boys, a service dog, & a crap manager, this makes me seriously NOT want to be lovin' it anymore. They're spiraling down the proverbial crapper, & they're the ones doing the flushing to themselves! Ironic.

The one's not seeing this are the one's also paying these people's AID they are paying double and don't even care or realize it, To the company and to the worker's. This needs ended. There are a lot of other companies not just McDonald's doing this same thing. Some are big name Restaurants. Limiting the hours and the worker's qualify for the AID the company profits by doing this. Worker's always come in the door and they always hire new one's. Big turnover's.
They need to pay a living wage so the people that make this for them can have a decent life!!

Did Macdonalds learn nothing from the McLibel Case UK v Helen Steel and Dave Morris .....surely there is a network in the U.S. that would re-run this documentary ...has nothing changed with regard to wages since 1990.

Like the rest of the worlds corporations - dysfunctional! We live in a world turned upside down. There is no up side to this kind of behaviour it's mere illusion that cannot be maintained for very much longer. Be afraid!
