I applaud the doctors and nurses from other countries who have volunteered their services to the people of the Philippines during this very difficult time. It's very heartwarming the way the world comes together to help those in need. Our next step should be preventive medicine: let's take steps to slow down and eventually eliminate the actions that contribute to climate change.

This is a monumental tragedy and was largely brought about with change in the climate which in turn is brought about with mans ignorance and the pursuit of manna. More tragedies of this kind have been experienced in the US and Bangladesh to name but two others.I fear that more and more of this is going to happen unless action is taken. My heart goes out to all victims of these terrible events.

Too bad it always takes a disaster to bring us together. We saw the same thing at Tulane during Katrina. The doctors and nurses have my respect.
