They're loud, they're destructive and they have absolutely no qualms about defecating or having sex on your front lawn at 6 am.

Thank you for the news. It would seem that people can't stop messing with Mother Nature, and it typically goes awry.

Ironically, wild turkeys could have the same complaint about humans too. When humans move in, wildlife must say...."here comes the humans and there goes the neighborhood." Weedkiller, pollution, tearing up their former habitat, etc.

Just don't butcher these turkeys--leave them be. It's people who are the menace.

I can sympathies these people who suffer the noise and the mess caused by an over population of birds in their neighborhood they can be a complete nuisance and frighten children. In my neighborhood we suffer the same trouble with Gulls which are a protected species attacking people walking down the street snatching food out of the hands of children etc.If people would only stop feeding them they would soon disappear.Other's do not close their bins so the birds raid them for scraps. These people are well meaning though disillusioned in their efforts " to save the poor birds from starvation "..When this happens the only way to control the situation is to collect their eggs and place a ceramic egg in it's place thereby misleading the bird into thinking it's real.If this fails and people ignore the pleas to stop feeding them then the only other solution is to cull them.We have already had some demand for this to take place while others have taken to anonymously poisoning them.

See what happens when you give up guns.

Poor Staten Island enduring one of the joys of rural America. I wish Staten Island migrating Canadian geese that are very tall, very fast and quite aggressive. Migrating geese will help the Staten Islanders enjoy wild turkeys.

John S....this has NOTHING to do with giving up guns! That's YOUR agenda!

The issue has to do with human overpopulation and the loss of natural predators. These birds can be reduced by methods already mentioned....(''dummy'' eggs, for example) and education about the risk of feeding wildlife.

GUNS are the tools of thoughtless people who see only one solution to any problem!

Obviously teenagers. Or college students. :^)

Seriously, a small town in Minnesota had the same problem a few years ago, I don't know if they're still being held hostage by the turkeys or by the cold.

Revenge of the turkeys. I hope they don't kill them, it's not their fault.

When I read the description "they're loud, they're destructive....................." I thought they were talking about humans, since that's exactly how we are! As usual the solution seems to be to kill them, as it has been proposed. Poor turkeys, they dared to disturb people and since people don;t know how to share the space with other species, they'll pay with their lives! So so sad.
