Australia is lucky enough to have a world heritage site in the forests of Tasmania. It should be preserved for future generations to appreciate

Gladly signed. I would say the government is not too forward thinking to propose delisting a World Heritage site. Part of our problem with not enough jobs is overpopulation. In the past we colonised new continents. Now we'd have to go to space! Thanks.

The Liberal-National Party Coalition government of Australia, led by our illustrious leader, Tony Abbott, has proposed taking this action purely for ideological reasons. The proposal has nothing to do with the timber industry or employment. After decades of conflict, over old-growth forest logging in Tasmania, the logging industry and conservation groups finally achieved a peace deal, with which everyone was happy. The current government has not consulted anyone with respect to their proposal, which further emphasises that it is a purely political decision, not based on facts, consultation, employment concerns, industry sustainability etc etc. The idea simply rubbishes the whole concept of conservation. Tony Abbott is simply thumbing his nose at conservationists and wiping his arse with the Forestry Agreement.... pure bloody (small) mindedness!
