In the era of Tea Party politics, Republicans have been focused on one issue--and it's not taxes or spending

It keeps women in their place with a judgmental, fundamentalist GOP - helps in every category of bigotry as well! It's a win/win proposition that keeps the flock ignorant and dumb, especially when a female candidate might threaten to run for office, and she isn't a fundamentalist!

Vote all republicans and tea baggers out of office in every state at every opportunity. The radical members of their party have destroyed any credibility they once had.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Mr. Mallison. His recap of the GOP/Teabagger movement since 2010 is very accurate, but I disagree with his assumption made at the end of the article that the ultra conservatives will make gains in this year's midterm election. I think their record since 2010 will be their downfall. Read and noted.

Well I disagree that the Tea Party Republicans are only focused on abortion and not taxes or spending. That should be pretty obvious over the last debt ceiling agenda! The Republicans wanted the spending bill cut...the Democrats wanted to continue the status quo which was we have to "borrow more" to get out of do not borrow more money to get out of debt!!! How many people in this country that can't afford their house payments, food, medical and etc; go out and borrow more money in order to get themselves caught up!? That is such common sense thinking that is so lacking in this administration/country it is insane!! There has been more pressure put on abortion because plain and simple MURDER is against the law!! And what is worse is when people try and explain/rationalize away their thinking to make murder of the most indefensible human being there is which is a helpless infant that didn't ask to be in existence in the first place because of IRRESPONSIBLE adults!! Plain and simple! And yet these same people will cry over the loss of life and abuse of animals!? There is nothing more valuable than a human life and when some put their priority of animals over human lives I find it totally unacceptable and so pathetically sad!! And it should speak volumes to those pro abortion people when the two women who started the abortion fiasco in the first place are now anti abortion..but the horse has already been left out of the barn so those pro abortion people will cry it's a woman "right" in order to feel better about the "murder" they want to commit so they do not have to feel "guilty!!" Such a SHAME!!

They should not be focusing on that. Abortion is evil and wrong. Thanks for sharing, Cal.

Your polies seem to have this obsession with womens' reproductive organs and their functions. These poor fellows are very sick ,This sickness can be traced back to their early childhood experiences starting with their toilet training. But for the life of me I cannot understand why you vote for them.It isa a pity that your pro life people are not more vocal about capital punishment . a brutal and inhuman practice that really shames America and puts her in the same cateragory as China and the middle east countries.

The party is comprised of individuals who have no integrity. Their 'values' are false, and they are determined to divide and conquer the people. I believe they will lose seats in the midterm election and elections to come, unless they steal elections with rigged voting machines and denying citizens their right to vote. Thank you for sharing the news.

But the Tea Party is not really Republican, and they are starting to splinter. They just aligned better than the Progressives and Democrats. Maybe the NSA controversy will pull some democrats and republicans to the centre to fight that battle.

So these so-called moral politicians will provide for these unwanted pregnancies for the rest of their lives? Thanks Cal for sharing.

They're not really obsessed with that one issue.

However, they are probably further from Democrats on it than on most others and it's flashy, so it gets more media-attention. It's also one of the few things still within the power of the states, so they don't have to deal with a Democrat-held senate or Obama when trying to pass these regulations.

Personally, I was not over all happy with the Supreme Court's decision concerning late term abortion. This term is up there with Clintons"delayed contraception". My belief is if there is a heart beat, there is a life.
This has been an on going issue for decades, and the writer knows this. Throw in the words tea bagger, and Obamacare, and a 40 year debate becomes current.

The teabaggers have made the abortion topic so they can try to get some pity on their side. They have screwed up on so many other topics that they have to try something to get "someone" behind them! They will take any issue, as long as it makes them look good, so people will vote for them! Then they will go back to taking their anger out on people that are middle class and lower!
They have no shame when it comes to denying the "born child" any help, if it needs it! They just want to make sure that anyone having sex PAYS for the privilege! And if a woman has an unwanted pregnancy from that act, she will PAY FOR IT fir the rest of her life!
You notice that most of the abortion denyers are MALE! They are OBSESSED with "lady parts". But, far be it from me to judge a person that HAS to take the road down the back alley to the coat hanger! And that is what we will be sending these unfortunate women, if we continue to try to repeal Roe v. Wade. That's what we were doing back when this was passed, remember?

Noted. I agree that they've been focusing on demeaning and disempowering women. But, what else they've done to destroy the economy and middle class is just icing on the cake. So, they hit their Xtian conservative base with the abortion topic, and then quietly go about screwing them by not voting for continued unemployment coverage & diminishing food stamps. They're also continuing not to raise taxes on the wealthiest and continue subsidies to corporations that are drowning in wealth as well. But, they put the abortion topic out as "red meat." They are just slimy.

Noted. The republicans are obsessed with abortion because they are playing to their conservative, fundamentalist nutbag base. Ronald Reagan, the worst president in US history, started this when he climbed into bed with Jerry Falwell and his Moral Majority. The republican party was not doing so well and they needed some catalyst, some one thing that had the very best chance of increasing their base and that one thing was and still is, abortion. They felt that the religiously stupid would and could be easily controlled if they hung their hat on this one thing - killing the unborn. It didn't matter that the religiously stupid would be voting against their own best interest, and the republicans knew that. Had they picked any other issue, they would have failed. What they did not count on, I believe, is that eventually, they would lose control of their party, which is what you see happening now. The republicans are fighting within; many of their party are hell bent on destroying the party if they don't get their way about every little thing. It used to just be abortion, but they have expanded now to include the debt ceiling and healthcare. These are their big 3 issues. They don't give a damn about people in America. They don't give a damn about the unborn either. They are simply using that as a way to control their stupid base. If they, by chance, do care about the unborn, it's only to get them born, keep them stupid by undercutting the educational system and send them in as fodder to fight their wars for oil and any other thing corporate America has deemed to be in their best interest; to hell with the rest of us or the rest of the planet for that matter.
