Plus there's little evidence that the economic benefits will be anything like the £15 billion that the government claims. I wouldn't sacrifice thousands of acres of ancient woodland even for that.

We care not what life of any kind we destroy. When will we see that what we are destroying we need to live. So sad and pathetic people we are.

Terrible, and this is all done for greed. What a disgrace.

Monday February 24, 2014, 1:22 pm sad as this is, we are going to be asked to make very difficult choices......if the high-speed rail will cut down destructive behaviors in other ways (i.e. cut driving or flying) then it might balance out some.......but if you want high speed rail, you need straight lines......

Business as usual. When will people stop ignoring they keep destroying nature, i.e. life? When will they understand 'life' is worth much more than their greed?

To much of the ecology is being destroyed on the whim of big business this rail link is costly and completely unnecessary. We need more trees not less.

Woodland & Forests should be preserved. They make our air clean enough to breath; provide shelter for wildlife & help prevent floods, to name just a few reasons to take care.
