With some incredulity-provoking remarks, the mayor did the equivalent of asking a well-reasoned atheist to get on their knees and pray anyway. He asked us to trust the police.

There can be no trust when the gloves are off.

He dares because he's a typical blinded politician, that's how. When all hades broke loose in Los Angeles during the Watts riots, I can't tell you how many people said they never saw it coming. Interesting -- given that the regular citizens in the area had been predicting it for quite some time.

Thanks Cal for the link to the article by Ms. Lennard. Mayor Bill de Blasio really isn't in touch with reality.
Read and noted.

Cops are getting way out of control! This Mayor is laughable and an idiot to say these things right now.

My recollection is that when the police have clearly harmed someone, the police always say that that person was resisting arrest. It happened in Ferguson, when the media people were arrested. In the video, the cop says that the reporter is resisting arrest, while the reporter is saying that he is not resisting arrest. There is no evidence in the video of the reporter's resisting arrest.

With the US military providing military weaponry and clothing to ill-trained police officers who behave as if they were the SS, it is of little wonder that free people object to being herded around by wannabe Nazi's. Protect and SERVE reflects what the police are to do, not the citizenry. Yes, in dangerous situations, it is wise to heed police advice but police everywhere would be wise themselves to consider how they present themselves and remember a little humility and politeness goes a very long way, especially when tensions are high. This is NOT a police state, Mr. Mayor, let's not turn it into one.

Noted. Thanks, Cal. Apparently, the NYC Mayor is a bit out of touch with ordinary reality. Police officers increasingly act like stormtroopers, abusing their authority with impunity. Don't trust the blue-coated bullies; never have, and quite likely, never will. Submit? In your dreams, Mayor!
