Overnight, some industries would become desperate for workers. The biggest beneficiaries would be low-skilled American workers. The big losers might surprise you.

And all those social security deductions from their paychecks, which they don't draw benefits on would no longer be available to the crook$ in Congre$$ to "borrow" ...

I doubt that many white United Statesians understand exactly how hard picking fruits and vegetables is. Not since the depression have many whte folk labored in the fields.
Personally, I'm quite fond of fruits and vegetables. I can't pick. Can you?

I am sooooo sick of hearing these are only jobs spoiled, lazy, Americans would not do.. B.S$$@!
Many many many Americans can not find work. It is not the immigrants who are to blame, it is the businesses and Big Govt.

To stop the illegal invasion would be a blessing on the local, State, County, City, levels for all.

Did yous see the Walmart Documentary? Hiring hundreds of illegals to work the night shift 10 & 12 hours, for less than Minimum wage.
While Americans are NOT hired. This practice goes on even in many companies, even Govt. jobs which do pay min. wage.

I found these stunning facts from a NY Times search;

Illegal immigration into the United States is a highly profitable proposition for both employers and the U.S. government, and it also benefits Mexico, which is the largest source

Mexico's massive privatizations in 1994-95 also created a new privileged class of home-grown millionaires and billionaires. As of 2002, Mexico ranked fourth in the world in billionaires, behind the US, Japan and Germany.

For USA; cheaper labor costs and lesser working conditions equal greater profits for business owners.

In a January 2005 World Net Daily article, a report by investment firm Bear Stearns was cited that clearly illustrates that millions of US jobs have shifted from the legal workforce "as employers have systematically replaced American workers with lower wage illegal aliens."

For illegal immigrants, it's about finding any work to feed, clothe and shelter their families. For employers, it's about profits.

But why would the US government look the other way, allowing employers to replace American workers with undocumented workers from other countries?
"...experts blame the twin pressures of ethnic advocacy and business interests" reports the Christian Science Monitor.
Translation...."ethnic advocacy" means buying favor...and votes....within the illegal immigrant community. If an immigrant doesn't vote, he/she has relatives who do. In the 21st century, Hispanics surpassed African-Americans as the largest ethnic group in the United States. Many believe that the Bush Administration's lack of immigration enforcement in 2004 was directly connected to the Republican Party's goal to court the Hispanic vote, and to entice Hispanics to join Republican ranks.
Translation..."business interests" means profits.

A major economic drawback, though, to allowing thousands...probably millions...of US businesses to pay under-market wages and benefits to undocumented workers is that it depresses wages for all workers in the US. All Americans workers, then have decreased incomes, lower benefits and higher rates of poverty and hunger.
An obvious moral drawback to allowing US businesses to pay under-market, lower than even minimum wage rates, is that it's wrong. Minimum wage and standard minimal working conditions are established to humanely provide for the safety and welfare of all workers...not just American-born workers.

Writes Dr. Groody, "Immigrants die cutting North Carolina tobacco and Nebraska beef, chopping down trees in Colorado, welding a balcony in Florida , trimming grass at a Las Vegas golf course, and falling from scaffolding in Georgia....
With an economic gun at their backs, they leave their homes because hunger and poverty pushes them across the border....Every day, immigrants dehydrate in deserts, drown in canals, freeze in mountains and suffocate in tractor trailers. As a result, the death toll has increased 1,000 percent in some places."
And there's one more reason why would the US government would look the other way, thus allowing US employers to replace American workers with undocumented workers from other countries. A huge, seemingly insurmountable reason. A $7 billion a year problem: Social Security.

According to a New York Times article on April 5, 2005, "...the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the United States are now providing the system with a subsidy of as much as $7 billion a year....Moreover, the money paid by illegal immigrants and their employers is factored into all the Social Security Administration's projections."

The Social Security Administration remains solvent in large part due to deductions taken from the paychecks of illegal immigrant workers, yet Social Security will never pay benefits to those workers. The workers pay in, but they never receive back.

According to that April 6, 2005 New York Times article, "Starting in the late 1980s, the social Security Administration received a flood of W-2 earnings reports with incorrect---sometimes simply fictitious---Social Security numbers. It stashed them in what it calls the 'earnings suspense file' in the hope that someday it would figure out whom they belonged to.

In the current decade, the file is growing, on average, by more than $50 billion a year, generating $6 billion to $7 billion in Social Security tax revenue and about $1.5 billion in Medicare taxes.

THE RESULT: Millions of illegal immigrants working for low wages and in poor working conditions, grateful for "scraps to fall from the US table of prosperity," per Dr. Groody.
Wealthier US businesses, and a much-richer Social Security Administration, neither which reimburse local and state authorities and taxpayers for the costs (education, health care, law enforcement and more) associated with illegal immigrants.

No, business practices aren't fair for immigrants OR US workers. How many skilled Americans aren't out there working because employers can hire illegal immigrants to do their work for 1/3 or 1/2 a living US wage?

Bill Gates cries about "not enough skilled American tech workers" for Microsoft and begs for thousands more H1B Visas to import non-US citizens to work for him at cut-rate pay. What crap...how many skilled US tech workers don't have jobs?

A LOT...companies routinely get rid of older, skilled workers drawing higher pay and good benefits and replace them with people who will work for peanuts. Same in the cabinetry, construction and many other industries.

These companies are slitting their own throats. Their immigrant cheap labor pool can't afford their products, and neither can displaced American workers. The hell with worrying about immigrant labor...worry about American workers first.

Remember it was Bush Sr. in the 80s
who obviously decided the Soc. Sec. Trust Fund is just too good a gravy to stabilize.

When it comes to Citizen Responsibility to uphold our Constitutional Rights I read that 85% of the worlds population can not & do not know how to "think for their self". They accept Head Line News and shallow facts at face value. Then repeat the lines verbatim without question.

This is the Comedy & Tragedy of Life, depending on if your in power or living under those powers. (o:

According to that April 6, 2005 New York Times article,

"Starting in the late 1980s, the social Security Administration received a flood of W-2 earnings reports with incorrect---sometimes simply fictitious---Social Security numbers. It stashed them in what it calls the 'earnings suspense file' in the hope that someday it would figure out whom they belonged to.

The file has been mushrooming ever since: $189 billion worth of wages ended up recorded in the suspense file over the 1990s, two and a half times the amount of the 1980s.

In the current decade, the file is growing, on average, by more than $50 billion a year, generating $6 billion to $7 billion in Social Security tax revenue and about $1.5 billion in Medicare taxes.

...the mismatched W-2's fit like a glove on illegal immigrants' known geographic distribution and the patchwork of jobs they typically hold. An audit found that more than half of the 100 employers filing the most earnings reports with false social Security numbers from 1997 through 2001 came from just three states: California, Texas and Illinois."

As shown by this information, the federal bureaucracy clearly knows which companies employ probable illegal immigrant workers, and it even knows which workers are likely illegals.

The government does nothing about it. Not one penalty was levied by the federal government against an employer in 2004 for hiring undocumented workers.

US employers anxious for more profits, and willing to exploit the poverty and fears of illegal immigrants to do so.

Add: The federal government anxious to curry favor with , and garner votes from, business owners and the Hispanic community...thus, willing to under-enforce borders and immigrations laws, and ignore illegal hiring by employers.

Add: The Social Security Administration dependent on taking in $7 billion annually of contributions from illegal immigrant workers who will never receive benefits from the system.

THE RESULT: Millions of illegal immigrants working for low wages and in poor working conditions, grateful for "scraps to fall from the US table of prosperity,".

Wealthier US businesses, and a much-richer Social Security Administration,

neither which reimburse local and state authorities and taxpayers for the costs (education, health care, law enforcement and more) associated with illegal immigrants.

And a very angry US citizenry, who vilify immigrants for being here, rather than blaming the business owners who hire and exploit them, the US government which lets them enter the US and profits greatly from them, and the Mexican government which is happy to see them immigrate out of their country.

Cate,
...To think,
Legal Immigration is even a greater problem than illegal immigration.

Not just older skilled workers. It is debilitating many with Bachelor & Master Degree's. Bill Gates is the most vivid example, but certainly not alone.

The lower wages and loss of employment is deafening in fields of; Medical, Health Care, Science, Teaching, & yes, greatly within the Govt.

Bushism Facts;

The smallest number of integration is the refugee's who deserve, need, and should be our Constitutional Priority.

CENTER FOR IMMIGRATION STUDIES:

The nation’s immigrant population (legal and illegal) reached a record of 37.9 million in 2007. Immigrants account for one in eight U.S. residents, the highest level in 80 years. In 1970 it was one in 21; in 1980 it was one in 16; and in 1990 it was one in 13. Illegal aliens account of an estimated 11.3 million of the total, or almost one in three foreign born residents. Since 2000, 10.3 million immigrants have arrived — the highest seven-year period of immigration in U.S. history. More than half of post-2000 arrivals (5.6 million) are estimated to be illegal aliens.

If immigration continues at current levels, the nation’s population will increase from 301 million today to 468 million in 2060 — a 167 million (56 percent) increase. Immigrants plus their descendents will account for 105 million (63 percent) of the increase. Net immigration has been increasing for five decades; if immigration continues to increase, it will add more than the projected 105 million that will be added if immigration levels stay the same.

According to the Department of Homeland Security, 1,052,415 immigrants were given permanent residence in FY 2007. Of those, 689,820 were family-sponsored; 162,176 were employment based;
... 136,125 were refugees or asylees; and 64,294 were from other categories.

Those of you who are hot to trot to give amnesty to illegal immigrants, please think about this:

*How many more hospitals will have to close their doors because they have no revenue to provide care to anyone anymore, because illegal immigrants with no money have bankrupted them as the major users of their services?

*How will you feel when illegal immigrant children are subsidized for an American college education and there's no money left over for YOUR children or grandchildren?

*Tell me how anxious you will be to take care of illegal immigrants when one day you wake up and it's YOUR job that has been given to an illegal immigrant - who might not do it as well, but is willing to work for a substandard wage and doesn't expect all those taken-for-granted little perks like retirement funds and health benefits. And here you are, highly skilled, but you're 45 or 55 or 60 years old and NO ONE IS GOING TO HIRE YOU for any type of work comparable to what you were doing - or making?

*Tell me how you'll feel when your school board presents its budget that includes hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars for NObama's "Let's Make Our Kids Learn Spanish" program, and your local tax rate skyrockets to cover the cost? Especially since we will still have English as a @nd Language classes for those children of immigrants who have to be coddled in their native language because no one at home speaks ENGLISH!

*Don't tell ME how immigrants learn English as a matter of course - that is the biggest pile of horse hockey going yet. I speak to HUNDREDS of incarcerated immigrants, legal and illegal, on the phone every year, and their family members too, and 98% of them don't speak enough English to carry on an understandable conversation about their or their family member's legal situation. I thought speaking conversational English was a test for being granted citizenship. Conversational English does NOT mean "Where's the bathroom?" or "How much for this?" Get real, people!

I still say - help US worker, US legal residents and citizen, Native Americans above all, whose teenagers have TRIPLE the suicide rate of other teenage populations in the US because they have grown up in abysmal poverty and see no hope for themselves in the future. And DON"T call me anti-immigrant. I am anti-amnesty for ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS, who deserve better from their OWN countries FIRST before sneaking into to the US to be exploited by heartless employers.

AND - ARREST AND FINE - IN THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS - EMPLOYERS OF ILLEGALS!

This is one of the big lies about our society, systemitized perpetuation and creation of a less than human segment of the population designed to fatten the wallets of a few.
Instead of blaming and prosecuting the immigrant for risking their lives to find better work, blame and prosecute the employer for providing the illegal employment. Use fines levied against employers, and the suspense file to improve education and living conditions for those that the US has been crushing all these years. Put pressure on neighboring governments to improve living and wage standards in their countries, because the better conditions are there, the less reason to emigrate. Make it illegal for US companies to pay lower wages in other countries than it does to its US work force.

I have a life long friend who has a college degree but wants to live in a town where his family hgas lived 5 generations. All the highest paying jobs (poultry farms, city govt., 'it is a small town not many jobs to begin with) are taken by Mexican's. You can not even be considered for these jobs as no one on them speaks english..
So
he works for the state at half the wages these mostly illegal immigrant & legan immigrants work for

typos..He is employed by the state for half the wage he would earn on these other jobs that are taken by legal & illegal Spanish speaking immigrants.
..........
and yes many hosp. have had to close in large numbers in TX & CA, and other states.
Look at Calf. alone.
1970's had the best schools through Comm. Coll, in the Nation. And Comm College was free to Calf residents
Now the schools are this countries greatest failures, and the Coll is no longer free for residents.

The Mexican Native Americans after the Spanish conquest in the 16th cent. retained their ancestral mode of life less than that of the N.A. Natives.
So if you are feeling Superior about S.A. , Hey., It is not the Mexicans but belongs to the yet underprivileged , less recognized, Mayans, Chorotegs, Olmecs, Chibcha, Aztecs, Toltecs, and like N.A. many more small pockets of culture.

Mexico is run by illegal Spaniards since you bring it up Botyfitiger.
And if your implying native S.A., that is as dilluted and watered-down as the N.A. racial mix with N.A. Natives.

Yes, getting technical. Most Mexicans should return to Spain, not N.A.
Who don't even speak the Native Languages or have family that uses those languages.

The People of the United States live in a Constitutional Democracy. In principle, under such an arrangement, the legitimate authority of the government derives from the consent of the People, who originally bestow upon both the Legislature (Congress) and the Executive (the President) the right to represent and govern over them. However, the "ultimate authority" -- the right to constitute (or form) a new government or alter the powers of existing office-holders -- is retained by the People. Transferring such rights to the government would undermine the People's authority and threaten democracy itself.

What other country in the World has Legal Authority to dissolve it's Fed. Govt without war when sedition & treason are apparent?

Much to the influx of immigration since 1965 in N.A., these shared rights are being and have been buried.

In fact, it must be part of the imperial plan to cause petty infighting and target differences that weaken the defense of all states.

President John Mc Cain,

I would like to remind the United States of America, that America is a land hospitable to all Nations. If it were not for the All-American fore-runners: President Abraham Lincoln, President John F. Kennedy, President Ford, President Reagan, and Presidents - Bush, we would not be able to wonder if America and its' liberties were not what attracted Foreigners into immigrating into American Culture? Immigrants are loved by All of us, but they did come to America, without due to being attracted to the established White Man's Culture, and Social adherents? If I understand American Law correctly, Immigrants were to be contained to a working class Citizenship, and were in the first place not to Rule, the Land we call Our ForeFathers HomeLand, and a Natives Home? Is it right to choose a Black Kenyan African American, that had a loving Mother who felt alliances to her American past, and moved among Southern Tribes, seeking a life of peace, capable of separating his loyalties to his own people, for White America and it's ForeFathers? I think we all need to review where Immigration is at, today, in America? Are we not unwise to assume that White American Peoples are favored by All; and are we not unwise not to be fair to Our ForeFathers American Dream? There will be other Elections, and other wins, but first we should examine the Tribal rivalry, that created a reason for Immigration Reception, originally? Let us remain together - but set apart, Amen.
