RAINN stands for Rape Abuse Incest National Network and they have new online counceling as well as lots of info to do trainings or for personal info! Their 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) goes to your local sexual violence center/shelter, write it down as you never know where or when you will need to call for yourself or a stranger!

I would question, why don't we fight back. Why do we accept these stat's ? As women and self respecting men. WHY?

When faced with an obvious act of sexual harassment, I was stunned, shocked...unable to fathom how to respond. This man, whom I barely knew had the audacity to make an offensive comment in front of numerous co-workers. I didn't make the comment, but I wanted to crawl in a hole and disappear.

Why don't we fight back? Mostly because we don't expect to be treated this way in a professional environment. The bar, well, yes...the office...no.

I went to my supervisor and sought assistance through her, she did her best, which, at the time was ill-informed and somewhat inept, however we've all had training in how to respond to harassment since.

Good day, Readers-I would be very grateful if any of you can send information and posters on rape. I come from a very small village in nw Alaska. I would like to put together a Woman's Group...rape would be a highly important issue. Not many elderly women here go online...so, if you may..please mail pamphlets in care of: Opik Ahkinga P.O. Box 7032 Little Diomede, AK 99762 Thank you very much-oa
