Stories like this makes me feel ashamed to be human, we do not own this earth we are visitors and therefore should respect all sentient beings. Obviously some Countries do not do this and put profit before the welfare of animals........endangered animals at that. It really is a disgrace!!1

Man's greed has no end, absolutely no end. I salute Botswana - it deserves the Gold star for elephant protection. I've spent some time in that country - and I must say, out of all the African countries I have visited, this is one of the cleanest, best run places. What they did so many years back though to the Wildebeest with their cattle fences is quite another story - they also forced out a young man who took over the lions cubs still in George Adamson's care when he was murdered. Two of the three lions were murdered in Botswana by cattle ranchers - and the Botswana government did nothing! As for China, Indonesia and Brazil, YOU SUCK - BIG TIME!
Thanks for this post Claudia

Shameful. Man's greed, ignorance and apathy seems to know no limit when it comes to the "non-humans" of this crazy planet of ours...

I am not thrilled with these countries, Botswana, USA, China, Brazil, Indonesia and other countries that are "allowing" many of these these magnificent creatures to become extinct.

The ESA is something that bush & his pukes don't care for in the US. They are trying very hard to weaken, change and allow federal agencies to approve mining, drilling and a variety of other projects without consulting wildlife experts in advance - all for corporate greed and profits.

TY, Claudia.

This make me so mad good old bush boy is killing off our anaimals and we are no 1 of all of them. I hang my head in shame. They need to stop killing off our animals think before you do something. OH I forgot bush has no brains.Maybe he should go see the great OZ and see if he can get some, Oh!! forgot again he already has a head full of straw. And all the other Countries with them. That do not care and put greed before any animal they too are inhumane.

Man who seems to place himself above and beyond the amazing array of life on this planet. When will he learn, that all beings, four legged and two legged walk together on this earth. I too, am sad and often ashamed of the behavior of many human beings. I hope and pray that in the coming year we being to see more and more positive changes for this planet, for the animals and for the inncoents who do no harm. I am grateful for all my fellow Animal actavists who do see the light and take care to help and protect the voiceless. We have been given a gift to be the voice for the voiceless, ...... I am so happy and optimistic that Bush, and others in the current administration are on the way out.... What they have done is a crime to all humanity.

There is no honour in topping this shameful list, G.W. Bush. Fancy even coming ahead of China. I want to know why Japan didn't rate a mention.

I wonder what the critera were for making this list. Seems a little suspect to me. How many countries actually maintain an endangered species list, or are aware of which species are endangered? How much do other countries spend compared to the US in researching, protecting, and re-establishing endangered species? Is it scientifically researched, or just off the top of someone's head? More info please. Especially, who made the list?

"The man who kills the animals today is the man who kills the people who get in his way tomorrow." ~ Dr. Diane Fossey, Woman in the Mists (Dr. Fossey was killed by someone who killed animals yesterday.)

It is always the richest most powerful countries do the most damage to the animals. Humans allow money to rule them. The old saying "oney is the root of all evil"is so true. It isnt the money that is evil but the desire to have unlimited amounts of it at the cost of our animals, & envoroment. All our major world problems link back to greed and selfishness of humans.

I joined the group. It is a sad thing to see these animals disappear. It is also sad to know that our children will never see them if something is not done.

Man is the most destructive entity on this planet. Africa has a motto of - "If you cant eat it, destroy it" We all know what the real problem is - Overpopulation of humans. In Africa if there are too many elephants, they kill the herds, if there are too many humans, they also kill the elephants.

I think my friend Avenging Angel says it all when it comes to the way animals are treated. We ARE all just visitors of this beautiful planet, not owners of it or its belongings. So sad is it that some human beings forget that and think it their given rights of power to hurt others, animals, and this planet.
