Earthrace Completes Its Journey To The Dark Side

Sea Shepherd’s sleek, dark, new apprentice has arrived — and the force is strong with this one. And by force, I mean the two 540 horsepower Cummins Mercruiser biodiesel-fueled engines on-board capable of running circles around the Japanese whaling ships.
And so it begins: Earthrace, one of the fastest powerboats on the planet, has been given a full Sea Shepherd makeover. From kevlar body armor to undetectable

broadband radar, nightvision systems, Iridium openport comms, and a new paint job that actually scatters radar signals and provides additional stealth. If Earthrace was badass before, it’s now firmly somewhere in the ninth circle of hell giving Satan a hard time.

Sea Shepherd’s Operation Waltzing Matilda against the Japanese whaling fleet begins this December. More pics of the new Earthrace here

The Earthrace ship doesn't look like a typical sea going vessel to me. Do you suppose it will be used to get between the harpoon ships and the whales? I found the photos very interesting. Thank you, Claudia.

Ok Whaler B, or is it Whaler wanna B ?
Explain your accusations.Paul Watson has never been charged, not even by the Japanese Goverment.
He's never been convicted of any fellony. So beats me why you call him a terrorist !
Clearly only pro whalers say this.To me,people/whalers who violate international laws, like the Japanese whalers are doing in Antarctica, are terrorists.
Oh and you don't have to use CapsLock,i can read fine,thanks...

I sure hope this levels the playing field a little, Captain Paul will use technology, and the JAPANESES will use lies, deceit, again to try and get him out of the way. I sure hope the Australians have come around and are not going to give him so much hassle and why are they waiting for , taking so long. It takes a lot of courage to confront cruelty like captain Paul does. Killing the whales the way they do is shameful cruelty. Its time for America to take a stand against this cruel and immoral act.Stop the senseless violence against voiceless victims.

Thought about it and had to come back and speak a moment ...
How many whales are left?
Before whaling began it is believed there were 250,000 blue whales - the Earth's largest mammal. Today the estimate is between 500 and 1,000. An estimate of whale stocks was made in 1991 as follows:

Blue whale 1,000
Sei whale 1,970
Fin whale 2,780
Humpback whale 9,600
Sperm whale 20,300
Killer whale 94,200
Pilot whale 230,000
Minke whale 1,140,000

Although the seal population has recovered in the Antarctic there has been little recovery of the whale population since whaling stopped in the 1960s. In 1994 the whole area covered by the Antarctic treaty was declared a whale sanctuary.

Minke whales and killer whales are frequently seen off the coasts of Scotland.

Small whales are still hunted from coastal locations in the northern hemisphere by the Inuit in Canada, by the Faeroese and by the Norwegians. The big whale-catchers are now only owned by the Japanese.

Whaler B..Are U a moron???
What is the whaling industry going to do when there are NONE LEFT TO HUNT!!!!!!
IF NOTHING ELSE U AND THE WHALING INDUSTRY SHOULD BE HAPPY THAT SOMEONE HAS ENOUGH SENSE TO PRESERVE THE WHALES.. OTHERWISE U PEOPLES ARE SOON GOING TO BE OUT OF A JOB AT THIS RATE! THE MENTALITY AND LACK OF CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS OF THOSE WHO SUPPORT KILLING THE LAST REMAINING WHALE POPULATION SAYS ALL ONE SHOULD EVER NEED TO KNOW REGARDING UR ABILITY TO THINK!

Thanks, Claudia and thanks, Faith A. for the statistical information, which is such a shameful blight on our society.

On another note, '60 minutes' is screening a story about Ric O'Barry and the Japanese fishermen in Taiji tonight (Eastern Seaboard, Australia). I hope it will open many eyes about what the Japanese get away with. It is good to see that mainstream media is finally focusing on something of importance and not where Paris Hilton goes to party!

I try not to expend my energy on hate filled trolls such as you know who. Enough said.

Thank you Faith A. for your 2nd post on your thoughts. You too Nora J. for the heads up on "60 Minutes" airing Taiji fishermen as it will be aired later for the U.S. audience.

When I was a child I watched on TV marine wildlife shows produced by Jacques Cousteau. I learned that whales are simply wonderous mammals, I was in awe and still am. I believe they are much smarter then us humans as they were here on mother earth before us.

We must try to stop the mega commercial corporations and/or nations from killing these precious mammals. As always, my energy and love.
