Uuuggh, Did you see all the pictures of these poor animals? My heart is breaking. I wish, I wish I had the funds to send to them. May God be with them and all those they are helping. One nice pic was the water trough for the horses/donkeys. What a splendid idea!
Thank you Ginger for this post.

Greed and poverty are the two enemies of man. These animals are suffering from poverty, the planet is endangered by greed. Poverty and greed are two faces of the same coin. It reminds me of my favorite quote from the Buddha: "There are three rungs to the human food chain, at the top and at the bottom the earth suffers". As long as greed causes the grinding poverty of 80% of humanity to the extent that they cannot help themselves and rely of subsistence living, they cannot help the animals upon whom the depend any more than they can help themselves or their children. The poor are not to blame. Those who would have it all bear all the blame. Point your fingers at the robber baron elite instead of the pitiful subsistence farmer who has not ability for medical treatment for himself, his family, his working animals. Poverty is a crippling and relentless disease of the mind and body

I hope the people are educated to understand how to treat their animals to prevent further 'abuse'. They do not do it on purpose, but with guidance and help from people like the Spana Society, things can and will get better.
Good luck guys!
