Here's my stab at some constructive criticism. Here are a few of the things rescue groups are doing wrong and what I propose they do to make them right.

Noted! The biggest mistake that ANY rescue group makes, is that they do so for profit. Anytime your heart is not in it solely for the sake, safety and well being to bring animals to a better place from whence they came, you are in it for all the wrong reasons. I know from first hand experience as I had my own rescue group in Cali and worked with a dear friend who was a pilot. We loaded up everything we could get of the streets from all over the world, especially Russia and Mexico as these were prevalent places and still are where many more homeless animals abound. I took the dogs and cats and she took the horses and mules that were due to be gunned down by helicopters as she has a very large ranch in San Diego. We did it solely for the love of these precious animals. Whereby many of our friend caught wind of what we were doing and wanted to emulate our success, the only problem with them was that they ended up turning it into a business and they all failed...When it comes from the heart, God always provided us with everything we needed. I spent more than 17,000 dollars of my own income one year just in rehabilitation, vaccines and spay/neuter. not to mention food. Everyone of my animals was as feral as you could get and would just as soon tear your eyes out, but with love, patience and all the time the animal needed to become adoptable, they were not let go. I have had my animal rescues adopted from folks in every state of the union and flew them there myself as this was one benefit I had...Free flying. It took a great deal of time but I wouldn't change a single thing! It HAS to be done out of love!!!

I would support any resuue that brings in a single animal that has been tossed away, or left for dead.
I simply do not understand Elaine's first sentence -rescue groups only do so for profit? And where does this profit go? I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

When people help others from the heart, that is when things workout right.

Allen, since you misunderstood my comment (Which BTW I felt latter on in my post you would have by then understood what was meant , guess not ) SO, I will expound...If one is only doing rescues for profit then that is NOT the correct reasoning of the heart, it should be completely of the heart and for the sake of the animals! Of course people should put the highest price they can on an adopted, as this shows for the most part, that one will not utilize their expenditures to then turn around and sell the animal to a testing lab. Not sure if you truly realize how prevalent that old trick is, but now you do. And that profit needs to go straight back into the continuation of rescuing...NOT into someones pocketbook...Which just in case you were not aware of that situation, is also very prevalent in many so called rescue outfits...Hope that clears up you misunderstanding!!!

Thanks Elaine for all your humane work and it is true, the efforts to help animals has to be from the heart and not one consideration of profit. The rewards are the animals saved!
