A research team at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has provided the first look at a genetic structure that may play a critical role in the reproduction of the infectious salmon anemia virus (ISAV), ... known as the "fish flu."

You can't fool with Mother Nature and not pay a price - may Monsanto rot in hell.

I'm not surprised, just one more example of the serious risks associated with genetically modified plants and animals... Monsanto leading the way should be a clue to stay clear of GMOs even if nothing else sends you in another direction just their track record with ethical and environmental atrocities should be enough...

How long before these concentrated infections are spread to natural stocks?

Typical of what happens when humans try to play God. Stop messing around with nature. Noted with thanks and total digust with moronic gmo folks who can't seem to understand-the world would be so much better off without them screwing around with plants and wildlife.

This does not surprise me at all---we've been scared of this kind of fish for a while.

great. some of these modified salmon have escaped their tanks and are in the oceans with other fish. the males are especially aggressive and are known to kill off other species. Now this. Seems are if these companies have put the last nail in the coffin from their Frankenfish and altering of our food from animals to bees and plants to water.
The info on the salmon was from a special on GMO food on TV about 2 months ago.

Frankenfish:

AquaBounty is the same company, of course, that has been trying to ramrod US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its highly-allergenic AquAdvantage Frankenfish without so much as a shred of independent, legitimate scientific evidence proving that the imitation fish is safe for humans and the environment, or that it will not reproduce and destroy stocks of wild salmon all over the world (http://www.naturalnews.com/GM_salmo…).

Let's get this company out of business ASAP before they contaminate the fishes in the Atlantic Ocean.

Is there a petition for this?

Ty, Ellyn.

Scary! Should give some thought to what we are doing when laborating with mother nature's creatures! Thanks for sharing!
