The information in this story has been denied by a representative for Jon Stewart. It is noted in an update towards the end of the article...

UPDATE, 2:20 P.M.: Confusion: Jon Stewart's rep just called back to deny the information above. I checked back with my source, who set me straight on a few details: Stewart is not paying writers out of his own pocket, but through Busboy, his production company. And it's not just writers who are getting their salaries covered but all the shows' employees. "He's hoping that it wraps up amicably and quickly, and over the course of that time he wants to look out for his employees," he says.

But when I ran this by Stewart's rep, he emailed back, "While I hesitate to knock down every rumor that comes up, the assertion that Jon and/or Busboy Productions will be paying for the staff is false and we have no further comment beyond this at this time."

I'm pretty sure there's some truthiness here (sorry), but it may take some more digging to determine exactly what the situation is.

Nur lives in the capital of Turkey.
She is a Care Member.
She needs all the love and support and offer of any suggestions or help we can give her
I feel very badly for Nur, as she was offended when someone supported the Kurds.
I don't think we really fully grasp or understand what they must be going through there.
Anyway....just thought I would mention it.
Thanks again.

John Stewart.... I dont know Paige.. I think he is paying 2 weeks only.
I will research more later, if you can add comments with link to the contrary it is appreciated.

It just proves the adage that you can't rely on everything you read. I do have to commend John Stewart and his production company for what they are going to do and in attempting to get the record straight. That is, indeed, refreshing. I have been a fan for a long time now. At the very least, make him Press Secretary!
Thanks for the story, which I noted, Carol, and appreciate knowing about.

I can't support him in this & need to tell the other side of this story. The writers want more money. Producers don't feel like paying. The only way the studios & producers can recap their money that's lost from bootlegging & stealing of movies etc is through the sale of DVDs. Now the writers want money from that as well. They already have high salaries & fat accounts. Last time this happened it took them 22 weeks to come to terms. Result was the exodus out of Hollywood, California & the US to predominately Canada. The crews, people here in Los Angeles who don't have huge pays, lost homes, families were broken apart due to divorces as couples just couldn't take the strain of no money, no home, no work. It has taken us so many years to get the business back to Los Angeles. Will this be the second exodus? Very probably as the producers & writers can work ANYWHERE. The US crews can not work without MAYOR PROBLEMS & ISSUES in foreign nations. Canada is IMPOSSIBLE. I know - my husband works in TV & Film as part of the crew. Last time we had it so bad we almost lost our home & I didn't always know how to feed our family. Both parties in this dispute are WRONG. But what's most wrong is STEALING movies off the web etc - - that trickles down to the crew. Once my husband's TV show run out of scripts, in a few weeks, if no agreement at that point he's out of work and NO ONE WILL COVER HIS PAY.

I don't care what he does to cover the WRITER's saleries - - how about all his other crew?!

No, John Stewart should get on the writers & the producers case & demand they work things out. That would be worthy the news - - not this.

sounds also like this rep may be just covering it's own point of view trying to make things go thru it by claiming all is false.
Lid Judd, they should get paid for ther work, regardless of soruce. Crew too, should be covered, but the main problems are #1 the thieft of royalties fees by bootleggers,#2 the unbalced payment sytem of these fees,#3 lack of total coverage of all people involved in creation of the properties creating fees for anyone. If someone gets paid for a thing, any& every one that helped create that product deserves to get paid for it-regardless where it is made or showen, regardless # of times showen, regardless the # of years ago property was created.
If true,at least he is attempting to help, but he is not in position salary wise to cover everyone, that is a system req.& only a system has the scoope& ability to do it at all,let alone for any lenght of time.
Although i myslef, did not go into this bussnes,i di have offers& many in my liveing areas have had this experances. The whole bussness has major long standing problems that do need fixing,or even simply being addressed!
