Anyone convicted of the cruelty could face a maximum prison sentence of 12 months, a £20,000 fine or both, as well as being banned from owning animals.
I'm hoping for both.
Sometimes Karma is a little too slow for me - they need to catch the people who did this before they can do more damage to more defenseless victims. Sigh. I'm so sorry for this kitty cat - and so angry.

I've just watched Miami animal police on cable,and its just one of many shows highlighting the jobs of the animal rescuers..some happy ending,some very sad..even animals that get well have suffered so much neglect and abuse they will never be able to put into homes for adoption..and its tragic to know the only option is to humanely euthanise them.even the rescuers break down heartbroken with some of the cases

Hey! I was born in England!!! It is a good thing!!! Proud of it, too! These stories are universal... it is happening everywhere. These thugs have no respect for life!! Animal cruelty needs to be stopped all over the world! And Mick, you are only bringing this message forth as a reminder to all! Animal cruelty is an underlying factor to more serious crimes these sickos may commit in the future. It is scary to have them out and about! And poor innocent animals suffer and die, like pieces of garbage! Will it be a person next?

My heart is so heavy right now...sigh, and for all the poor souls of our innocent animals at the hands of monsters.

I can't for the life of me fathom why anyone, a child or adult would want to harm another soul in such a ferocious manner and one that can't fight back?

Who taught these souls? Where are the parents when they were growing up? My lord in heaven, this just sickens me to no end to hear of pure evil at work here ~ I couldn't agree more that these type of killers of animals will most likely turn out to be PEOPLE killers ~

We need to always teach OUR children well...about how precious ALL life is in the Universe.

May the soul of this beautiful cat rest in the arms of the angels, I'm so sorry that it was tortured in such a horrific way, I just am shaking my head and wondering what the hell man...

Just a suggestion, Mick, but perhaps you would get more hits if you posted these sort of stories under the 'animals' heading - rather than offbeat. I only look through the animal stories myself as that is where my interests lie.

This story is horrific. I am English by birth and there is a deterioration of standards in the UK by a youth mob culture. Total lack of respect and bad parenting. I now live in Canada and I am so pleasantly surprised at the high standards of parenting here. Children are talked 'to' not 'at'. I often hear parents explaining such basics as manners. Children are more confident here and definitely more pleasant to be around. The UK is in a bad downward spiral. It saddens me beyond measure.

I'm still reeling from the fox's being used as dog fighting bait ,and they used cats to give them the blood scent before a dog fight..the picture of fox;s bolted to fances ..i m chuffed ,i sent all the details to the league against cruel sports ,who didn't have enough to fund any more campaigns..but last month they've taken it on ..and are askin for help to stop this barbaric practicew..as a member of the league ,i feel good,that they listen to their memmbers ..and they do care

This is heartbreaking. I'm new to Care2 and personally think this is "sick." Whoever did this deserves to be punished; no questions asked. My teenage kids who have such a love for animals would be devasted if I shared this with them. What is ths world coming to? Linda Culverwell (South Africa)

Point well taken Miss Gorilly Girl, but it does make one soul search a bit about who we really are when there are those among us that finds this amuzing entertainment and then not miss one zzz during naptime with a clear conscious after performing the act. I just hope that it was some very young juveniles that should, but didn't understand the repercussions. At least that is some form of justified excuse as opposed to ones at an age that do indeed know better. Maybe they did explain who did this, but the photo and first paragraph was enough for me and apologies Miss Gorilly Girl but I didn't read the whole article.

I truly rarely get peeved, I don't like getting pissed, for its like a used prophylactic...always messy, but this behavior as still with is disturbing and it only shows that in many ways we're still very primal.

I am glad though that you brought it to our attention, now to settle after the initial schock and reckon how acts as this can be confronted and halted.

Oh and by the way, the soft Gorilly Hugs, were gladly accepted...

only 3 times..it should be posted 20 times ,and noted 20 times..this should be about the animals,and sharing and gettin the message to as big an audience as possible,and not about competition and who's got the most .i agree fireworks should be banned..when we were kids,you could only pick up fireworks on the evenin of november 5th..now they're being sold months in advance ,everywhere from corner shops to supermarkets..e ven then on the night,the parents lit all the fireworks..its got out of hand and the organised firework displays are great ..they're oprganised by pro's and everythin at a distance...but tomorrow nigght,noone with any sense should let their pets out,.,

Whilst I understand that such stories get press coverage, to print it prior to fireworks night and give more idiots the idea to do the same, is ill-advised. The story should have been hel back to at least next week in The Scottish Sun.

This makes me sick to think of the pain this helpless cat endured and sad. It seems this kind of horrible animal abuse and torture is becoming more and more routine. This is probably another case of kids or teenagers and I think they should be severely punished if caught, I am tired of hearing they were abused, they are emotionally unstable, etc. as an excuse for this behavior. It is no excuse, they need to be in jail not out on the streets to hurt another animal.
