Damage from invasive species already costs the world more than $1.4 trillion annually. But now a new report says that biofuel crops could also become invasive species -- and that the risk needs to be evaluated before these crops are planted.

Interesting article. A reminder that everything is connected and that we are approaching Earth's limits. Converting forest to biofuels increases global warming and creates invasive species problem. Converting cropland to biofuels raises food prices. Doing neither means burning more petroleum, increasing global warming. No good choices here.

Biofuels are at best a short-term fix that may help transition to long term solutions like solar-electric or solar-hydrogen. That's where the focus should be.
