By cutting down 50,000 acres (20,235 hectares) of mangrove trees in the 1990s, and probably more since, Myanmar may have left itself much more vulnerable to last week's deadly Cyclone Nargis

Living here in the mountains of NC, all the trees really help when stong winds come. It is not as bad on us. We can still get those tornado and hurricane winds pretty strong, but the trees cut down some of those horrible winds. Sadly noted for the lives lost in Myanmar. Thanks Michael.
