Here is one consideration about sun and cooking.

Solar is a good assist - solar heat, and when they come online, solar electricity.

The way this works is, you have a source of energy, perhaps batteries, when the sun produces more energy than the batteries consume, the batteries are charged. Or, if you are on the grid, when the solar cells produce more than you are consuming, by federal law the utilities in America are mandated to buy your power.

With cooking, any minor variation in sunlight - i.e. a cloud - would disrupt the heat and possibly affact the cooking. We need reliable energy source.
