The FDA has approved claims that tomatoes reduce the risk of gastric, ovarian, pancreatic and prostate cancers. But the FDA has raised doubt as to the effectiveness of lycopene alone in protecting against cancers

You're welcome. Sometimes I eat the cooked or raw in salads. Other times I'll grab one and slice it up like an apple and eat it with pepper.

Sad for me though, I can't eat tomatoes, unless they are acid free, and the ones here, have skyrocketed through the roof in price!!

Yeah, Serge, me too!
I LOVE a good raw tomato!
A little garlic salt on it,
and you've got some Good Eats,
as Alton Brown would say!
BUT, if it's Lycopene you're
looking for, eat watermelon!
It has FAR more Lycopene than
tomatoes!
Thanks for another terrific post,
Michael! :-))

I never knew that about watermelons. Thanks for the info Tim.

Hey serge, why waste a perfectly good rotten tomato on the FDA? Last time I checked, a brick still works..lol

While you all meantion the tomatoes, those rats were killed just to state the obvious facts. How do you think they got the samples/results?
University of Illinois is vile place.

Shroedinger, fortunately
vivisection and animal-testing
is beginning to fall out of favor.
They now have computer models and
programs that do the work much faster and
more accurately than animal testing.
