An amendment to the farm bill, currently being considered by the Senate, would enact a widespread ban on the sale of junk food to children on school grounds.

Good deal!
God knows how these kids are being fed at home,
so it's really important that the schools focus
on feeding children balanced and nutricious meals
while they're in school.
I know that many school districts in the country
have banned soda vending machines on campuses, and
that too is a good deal!
Thanks, Mike!

This plan may be a start but the replacement plan is not good enough.

I graduated school in 1972 which to me isn't that long ago in Detroit, MI. Do you know we didn't have much junk food? We couldn't get any soda drinks. The only thing offered as drinks was chocalate milk and regular milk. Vending machines contained delicious cold fruit like apples and oranges, pears...couldn't they do the same now? Oh, one thing we could buy was ice cream sandwiches, hey what's wrong with that it isn't junk food! It's bread with some frozen milk inside with maybe a tad of sugar.

The new plan doesn't make much difference! They should ban anything with MSG and ASPARTAME in, these two are poisonous substances that should be banned altogether, the same goes for cow's milk!

I think kids should be taught about good nutrition in addition to not having junk food on school grounds. Schools should have required nutrition classes that should be part of the curriculum.
