The Senate's 92-6 vote to pass the war-funding bill marked a victory for Bush, who has vigorously opposed any move by Congress to impose timetables for ending the Iraq war, now in its sixth year.

I guess congress isn't listening to the message we sent out in 2006 that we are tired of Iraq.

Something needs to be done about this bastard! The war was set up in the first place, he's a criminal!

Its just a small thing but I have to pick it up - "you are tired of Iraq"!!! Walk a mile in their shoes - these poor souls how do you think they feel??? Nothing has been done to stop this war and the destruction of this country - nothing has been done to get rid of the fanatic and his administration that set about making war on countries for no reason except for his own agenda!!! All talk - nothing doing - You Talk The Talk - then Walk The Walk!!! I am sorry if this offends some but I am just appalled at the way these poor souls have had to endure all on the whim and say so of one apology for a president and his ridiculous minions!!! Peace

The only way to get rid of Bush would be to impeach him.

At this point, I would say Bush is major part of the problem and but not the whole problem. Congress itself has to share blame as well! So it's really not as simple as "impeaching Bush" as much as we'd all like to do that and I agree that should be done.

There are many Congresspersons & Senators that have profited from this war. They should have to answer for this war too.

Jaclin, up until recently, most progressives believe that in spite of our rigged elections, the best way to end the war was to vote for Democrats.

Many of them KNEW that Gore had won the popular vote in 2000, that Gore had conceded to Bush without a fight (the Supreme Court case was Bush v. Gore, NOT Gore v. Bush -- Bush went to court to stop the recount which would have shown that Gore had won), and that Gore had personally ordered all Democratic Senators NOT to sign the Congressional Black Caucus petition to block Bush from taking office due to the fraudulent Florida Electoral Votes, based on the illegal purging of DEMOCRATIC voters from the rolls.

But once the wars had begun and we learned that they had been based on lies, the Democrats got a pass for voting for war because everyone said that they might have been fooled by the lies. I haven't heard their excuse for continuing to vote for war AFTER they learned it was all lies.

So people decided that the best way to end the wars would be to vote for John Kerry in 2004, not because he was against the war, but because he had once been opposed to a different war, and therefore might be open to reason, and because he promised, if we sent his multi-billionaire self millions of dollars, to ensure that our votes were actually counted. Hundreds of lawyers all over the country volunteered to help, but Kerry reneged.

So now there are many people who believe that if they vote in another rigged election for a different pro-war Democrat, it might further the cause of peace. I'd really like some of what they're smoking.

But no matter how bad they are on war, the Democrats are good for the economy. They're going to hold a convention in Denver and they've sent their provocateurs all over the country to get people to come and protest their convention. Not only will this draw more attention to their convention (Does anyone know what the purpose of the convention is? I sure don't. They already have their nominee.) but it will also allow Homeland Security, FEMA, and local law enforcement to try out their new helicopters and crowd control gear to justify the expenditure of millions of dollars on crowd control gear when there were no unruly crowds. Isn't that nice?

Then they can get all sorts of media coverage if anyone is killed (usually innocent bystanders like Kent State), start lawsuits that will continue for decades to seek compensation for those wounded by the cops so severely that they'll spend ther lives in wheelchairs or have very little brain function, and compensation for false arrests (and a promise not to do it again -- cops always make that promise and they always do it again).

Some of us have a different idea of how to end the war. We won't vote. Since peace is off the ballot and the only candidates are ones committed to war, we want to demonstrate that they lack the support of the American people by asking people not to vote for them.

No in November

What good is protesting the wars of aggression if you keep voting for them?

If we can get a lower voter turnout in November than in the primaries, it will be historic and it will prove to the world that we the American people do not consent to what the goveernment is doing. And I think we can do it, because in the primaries, peace was still on the ballot, and now it isn't.

Thanks Michael, noted!

Peace!
