Sen. John Warner, R-Va., asked Energy Secretary Bodman to look into what speed limit would provide optimum gasoline efficiency given current technology. He wants to know if the administration might support efforts to require a lower speed limit

No speed limit ...stop driving complete on certain days...we had that in the first oil crisis here in Europe in Holland it has been the sunday in Austria you could choose one day and had to have a sticker on your window... mo

The no driving completely would be an excellent start.

But you'll never hear the US Government advocate it because no driving means no gas is being used which means the oil companies are going to lose money.

We could have already had alternative fuel program (as well as a national health care system) funded with all the money spend on Iraq. I think the number is now up to 800 billion.
