Mike Stark, a national board member of the Campaign to End the Death Penalty (CEDP), was one of many targets of a Maryland State Police investigation into anti-death penalty and antiwar activism.

This spying by the Maryland Police was absolutely unwarranted. And, what did they find after all of thier investigations. You will be surprised. Please read on...

The following excerpt will shock you. Please read the WHOLE article! This one paragraph just really jumped out at me - please read it and THINK ABOUT the IMPLICATIONS! The Founding Fathers of this country would be horrified by this incident.

*************************************************************

"The report does get one thing right. Nowhere in the 46 single-spaced pages is a single illegal activity conducted by anti-death penalty activists (observed or imagined) described. Not a single statement, note, e-mail or comment made publicly or illegally obtained through surveillance can be construed as illegal, improper or even rude. Instead, the list of events documented in the report--distributing fliers, petitioning--are about as scandalous as the minutes of a local Rotary club."

**************************************************************

So, folks, just think, it could have happened to YOU or a friend or relative of yours - even though there was nothing illegal being done by
you (or friends of yours). We must be vigilent - more vigilent than ever -in protecting our Constitutional rights.

I'm reminded of the classic and timeless
quote from Thomas Jefferson:
"Where the government fears the people, there is Liberty.
"Where the people fear the government, there is tyranny."

This news story makes me wonder,
who is the Maryland State Police afraid of?

Thanks, Michael! A GREAT post!!

More and more it becomes clear that it is not the many peace advocates who represent a threat to the peace and rights of this country. It has become the police who consistently violate citizens rights. Their activities are more consistent with those found in the despotic dictatorships found in Africa. Now, I will probably find myself listed somewhere.

Unreal....are we to live in a Modern Nazi like country then... that all started with the police forces as well. We as Americans should never , and I mean never let something like this stand. Write your congressmen , write your newspaper , protest protest protest.....

Why do we keep voting the bastards in that support this? I remember Nancy Pelosi declaring she would be the first Madame Speaker, watch out, she would change things. Funny how the Democratic congress has not made the world a better place.

We need to elect people who will change things. For heaven's sake, consider the Green, the Libertarian and the Constitution parties.

I know we are becoming afraid of our own government, and that needs to change. I know you don't approve of the second amendment, what the real intent was was to protect people from their own government. I ask you - do you trust your police department? Do you trust the U.S. military?

I have no problem with people being investigated for what they do in a public forum, especially in today's world. Freedom isn't Free...

No, freedom isn't free but that doesn't mean that we should be subjected to tyranny either....
