Pressure for dramatic action to safeguard the Mediterranean's dwindling bluefin tuna stocks continued to mount last week when Italian fishers endorsed a fishing moratorium as "the lesser of all evils"

Wow, I had no idea that bluefin tuna had
been so badly overfished! This reminds me of
the situation with Chilean Sea Bass about 8 or 10
years ago. A worldwide moratorium on the fishing
for Sea Bass was instituted, and Chilean Sea Bass
rebounded, and are now being fished again. If
they leave the tuna alone for awhile, everything
should be fine.
