Change happens fast when it hits you in the wallet.

When we lived in British Columbia they would charge 3 cents per plastic grocery bag and five cents per paper bag at the grocery store ... people also brought their own egg cartons ...

We had a trash pickup ONCE a week ... nothing was TRIPLE packaged like it is here in the U$A.

WOW - now that is the first positive news coming out of China in a loong while, given their otherwise brutal treatment of animals! But let's take the positive and and not be embarassed about copying something that is proven to work! I don't know how to do it but the savvy people of this site: LET'S GET PETITIONS STARTED to our legislators por whoever can put such a law to ban those bloody bags over here as well ... we and our environment certainly would benefit a great deal!

Well, what a surprise, I wonder what brought that on. Now how about banning the use of bear bile for medicinal purposes that causes bears incredible suffering. Just to mention one animal abuse issue here, but we all know that there are too many to count. Wake up China, treat animals fairly or KARMA will get you. Congrats on dealing with the bag issue.
