New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton says the U.S. Senate may have to lead the way in passing a $700 billion Wall Street bailout package now that the House has rejected the measure. "I certainly would support the Senate going first, so long as we have the

Sorry Deborah, not my fault...

"I certainly would support the Senate going first, so long as we have the votes ... as early as tomorrow if that's what would make this process successful," Clinton told reporters by phone Tuesday.

Whose votes?...Buddies or taxpayers?...Do you count?

Re-regulating the banking industry is the only permanent fix for this problem. Pumping 700 billion dollars into it is NOT going to fix the underlying problems.

Good article, David, but the dicks in DC won't give us a darn thing. They just want us slobs to bail out the wealthy. I keep finding and submitting alternatives, but they seem determined to squeeze us for everything we don't have.

I submitted that link as a news item but thanks for the repeat, Eric! That's one of the alternatives I've found.

I think I might have to send out the flying monkeys.

I noticed nothing is said about the thieving CEO's that helped cause this failure mostly due to what I think should be illegal..., Predotory Lending. Doesn't that name say something in itself? And I heard recently that one of these CEO's made 18 million in 3 weeks??? What the hell??? And our Uncle Sam's want to help these people??? Pump that 700 million out to taxpayers, and only to the 'poor' taxpayers, since there is no middle class anymore, the rich don't need it. Seems to me that would be a fairly good solution, give us back those taxes we have paid in and let us get ourselves out of this situation, cuz it seems that about everything the government is doing these days is just plain bad!!!

TELL your Senators what you think! Call, email, deluge them with communication - let them know we want:

*Accountability of funds disbursed under any bill - in writing, and throughout the entire process of disbursement

*Public hearings OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, including testimony from politically-unaffiliated economists, bankers, labor leaders, mortgage lenders and everyday citizens on the best way to handle the economic mess that the bigwigs have created
*NO fox guarding the henhouse - NO seat for the Treasury Secretary on the "oversight board"

*Consideration and discussion of insured loans to banks instead of outright cash, so they have breathing room to begin lending again - and a provision in the loans that ensures they will be used to jump-start American markets and labor and NOT to compensate high-ranking employees

*Legislation that affords DEMONSTRABLE BENEFITS to homeowners

*NO allowance for extraordinary compensation for the execs who caused and allowed this debacle to happen - NO RESCUE OF THE RICH

Your senator's CONTACT information is here: Senators of the 110th Congress

I'm still sending letters and calling but I think these shills for Bush are going to push these bailout through today without fully considering the taxpayer.

I don't do medications, but this is a Motrin moment...

I've been writing my reps all day since I stopped being able to get through on the phone about 11 AM ET. Here's what I've been writing them today:

****
I am your constituent. Constituent is defined as, a person who authorizes another to act in his or her behalf, as that person, I say no to this Bailout.

Unconstitutional, as defined as unauthorized by or inconsistent with the Constitution. Unconstitutional, is what this bailout is. I urge you to vote no.
****

Remember, they don't vote until 9PM ET, there is still time to write. I'm also writing and sending the exact same thing to my Reps. in the House. They will get this bill after the Senate this time. Nothing is a done deal.

Hey gang, you have to ignore posts that appear from another board that you just posted too. They are strange anomalies from another dimension. They disappear, and only you can see them.

"Good grief, Charlie Brown!"
