Lil' Drac was hand-raised at Bat World Sanctuary. This video should remind us that all life is precious. He's a cute little guy, too! Watch how he reacts to a loving touch the same as any baby.

Cute story with video. Show how this aby bat is being fed plus other info.

Bats are so important these days as there is an on going epidemic with bats.
Bats provide3 a very valuable service ecology wise.

TY, Beth.

My mother tried to indoctrinate me with a bunch of superstitions about bats when I was young, like they would get your hair, but I didn't believe a word of it. They would come out at night and fly around and eat insects. Bats are cute, even the adults.

Isn't that so precious. All life has a purpose and fits into the complexity of nature. We must learn to see the uniqueness of each and treat all with respect and caring. What these people at the rescue for bats are doing is wonderful and helps us see bats in a different way. My fear has always been because of rabies, and thus to see them as threatening and not be tolerated. Actually a bat likes to "hang out" on one of the beam in the covered patio. It has been there for at least two years. In the morning there is mice like droppings on the floor and I could not figure where it was coming from, but it was at least one bat that found refuge there at night.
Where do bats go in the winter? Do they hibernate. I have put a screen down to keep the cold air away from the house and so the bats cannot go there now. Imagine that they have another alternative place to go, but feel badly to block it from it's former refuge.

I remember as a child seeing the bats come out at night flying across and along the pathway between our house and the neighbour's. They bothered me because they would fly low and grab my hair. I thought all bats were blood-suckers until my father told me that there are many different kinds of bats and they do us a service by eating mosquitoes etc. When I was young in Ontario, there were problems with bats and rabies, but now I know many other animals get rabies too.
This is such a wonderful story and Lil Drac is such a cutie.

O wow! great find. Thank you! Sweet beautiful baby bat. I love how he hung upside down on her finger and rocked himself. What a great job to have. That to me would be the best vocation - to care for baby animals that were orphaned. Next lifetime.

Oh Thank you so much for this VIDEO AT SITE BETH!

How special is this wee one, so sad he lost his Mom, but from the video the care that was given to save him was so special that I have tears and "waves" going through me right now!. Loved it when they used the (what looked like a tooth pick gum brush to brush him)....wipe him down, and Then he Rocks on the finger, so tiny.

Absolutely Outstanding Find like Constance said, and while I have never been a Fan of Bats, I am NOW!

Thank you so much Beth again for quite the awesome and special video! Outsanding comments and gotta send this one on! xx

The miracle of life is played out in this story. The significance of preserving precious life no matter how tiny it might be. The principle is the same. The care and love that has been extended to this tiny creature bears more weight than one can imagine. What we see practiced here is kindness, respect and an understanding that all creatures have a right to life. One day all creatures will be treated in the same manner when humans shift their perceptions on life.

Those hands , so gentle, you could actualy feel the love and reciprocation.
I sent you a green star Beth, but you deserve a gold one for finding and sharing this! 1love
