His Excellency Mr. Kittiphong na Ranong
Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand
Royal Thai Embassy
1024 Wisconsin Avenue, N.W.
Washington D.C. 20007

Dear Mr. Ambassador:

It has come to my attention that officials have raided the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand (WFFT), located in Phet Buri 76130, and Elephant Nature Park, located in Chiang Mai 50100. 103 animals have been ordered to be removed although papers are at the site to prove that they are legally held. Officials refuse to look at the papers and continue the confiscation of the animals. Some included sick and injured animals that were under the care of the centre’s vet. They are being kept in a government facility and WFFT staff is not permitted there to visit and check-up on the animals.

I would greatly appreciate it if you would let your government and the people working at the relevant department know that I am extremely concerned about the well-being of the animals and workers at the foundation. You have so many animals living in your country that are almost extinct. It would be a powerful message to the people of Thailand and the world if you could preserve them now and in the future.

These animals have already endured so much pain in their lives. It seems wholly unnecessary that they be subject to more suffering.

As Mahatma Gandhi rightly observed, “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” I hope that you will help Thailand be great and help these helpless animals.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration, and I truly hope this issue will be resolved peacefully and equitably in great haste.

I look forward to your reply in this urgent matter.

Sincerely,

[YOUR NAME & ADDRESS]
