Real brilliant post there Elgin.

I'm not going to point out all the obvious absurdities in what you said, but saying if we want government propaganda to stop, then we just need to not watch it says everything we need to know about you.

Those people that you say do not need to tell the truth to the press DO need to tell the truth Elgin, those people are an arm of the Pentagon and the Pentagon works for us and is paid by us.

Also, the media is using the public airwaves and by federal law they are meant to serve the public.

Let's also add to that the fact that the lies used to launch this war have lead to war crimes, the breaking of international treaties and crimes against the Constitution.

That makes EVERYONE that pushed for this illegal war a war criminal and guilty of breaking international treaties.

It is a crime to intentionally defraud anyone.

There was intentional fraud perpetrated upon the American people by this administration, the Pentagon, the "intelligence" community and the media that has lead to over one million dead Iraqi citizens four million displaced Iraqi citizens, four thousand dead US troops, thousands more wounded physically, mentally and emotionally, destroyed diplomatic ties with the whole world and over a half trillion dollars already wasted not to count the fact that we are vulnerable to attack due to troops not being here to protect us as they are designed and paid to do in the first place. ALL sixteen of our intelligence agencies have stated we are more at risk now than before the war on Iraq.

So, the press is guilty of being complicit of crimes.

That's not the same as a differing opinion Elgin, that's against US and international law.

Also, let's look at the fact that the government might have forced the press to go along with it.

That also is unacceptable and is not just a matter of opinion.

What that makes this is a fascist police state no different than Nazi Germany.

Go call up Limbaugh or Coulter or O'Reilly if you want your statement to be accepted without it being picked apart for what it is....mindless garbage meant to do nothing else than try to distract from the obvious and that is that the government with the help of the media is spreading LIES to garner support for illegal activity.

Capitalist/bourgeois governments don't even need to do this. Most media is privately-owned corporate media anyway, and both privately-owned media corporations and many "publicly-owned media corporations" (like the U.S.A.'s "PBS") receive much of their funding from corporations in the form of advertising. Thus they give us the picture of the world that the owners of private corporations, the bourgeoisie, want us to believe. Government media in capitalist countries is also dominated by the owners of corporations, the bourgeoisie - because they give most of the donations of political parties, and because the propaganda produced in the other media that the bourgeoisie dominate influences peopel to vote for the governments that favour the bourgeoisie.

The bourgeoisie benefit from wars like the invasion and occupation of Iraq, because their military corporations get to sell more arms to the warmongers, and because through such wars, they get access and control over more resources (such as oil and other energy resources), markets and workers who they can exploit. So of course the bourgeoisie and the media corporations they own, control and dominate will show us a pro-war picture of the world, even without these 75 stool-pigeons.

yeah fraud is a crime but to lie to the press is not fraud ....it can be used against you in a court of law but not a crime ....it is a crime in the united states of america to lie to any government agency{and or rep i.e the police} but whether they will PROSECUTE is actually up to those to who the lie was told most times they let is slide unless its election year .......

YEAH I WOULD LOVE A TRUTH TELLING PRESS but thats not gonna happen why well people are liars and the press last time i checked was run by people ....this is why and informed person must read and know who is speaking to them in the press .....

I AM in agreement that people have been lied to by members of the press and the owners of those media outlets but they are under no obligation to print the truth it does not say in our constitution that they must be honest and forth right ..these are wonderful illusions that we must realize are not and have never been true ....i am a member of many groups that watch the press and all of which were saying years ago that this information was slanted and untrue but now what 6 years in and people act like they never knew well they chose not to do more than sit and watch or in some cases read crap ....

I am crying as I read this. Thank God that there are Americans that recognize what is happening with your media. We here in Canada have seen what has happened to your press for years. Just watch CANADIAN or european press (on the internet if necessary) and see the difference in what is reported. Only Lou Dobbs, as far as I can tell, actually calls Governmental officals Out on what he finds out trhough his research (proper journalism). Here in Canada there is even a program called This Hour Has 22 Minutes (among others) that blasts politicians with sketches etc., and some of those politicans actually appear on those shows!!!

Elgin, I'm not playing the back and forth arguing game.

I'm glad you recanted on telling people to not watch the media, since we do have to be aware of what they are doing even if we know perfectly well they lie and distort. I'm also glad you,(just like me and many others) research and don't just go and believe something from one source, but most Americans do not do that and that is why we have to keep the pressure on to wake people up and to show the media we will not let them lie without raising our voice (and boycotting their companies, etc).

There are tons of people that have ideas different from mine, I did not make my comment because you differed from my views, I stated what I said because your stance in your post of just letting it be and ignoring it is exactly what BushCo and the international banks and the rest of the war machine want us to do.

Anyone tells people to turn a blind eye and just go elsewhere is going to hear me speak up about how dangerous and wrong it is.

One thing I would suggest is a bit more research on what constitutes fraud.

To intentionally lie to the press with the intention of swaying the public opinion so that illegal activities and war crimes will be put into place IS fraud.

Also for the press to broadcast pre recorded "news" that was handed to them from the White House knowing it was from the White House and knowing it was not a real reporter is also perpetrating fraud if the public has a reasonable expectation of being made aware of when what they are looking at is news or a commercial. That leads to a legal responsibility for the media to go to reasonable lengths to check for accuracy and authenticity of the information they are reporting. If they air it, it is then them that is reporting it. If they report it and it is intentionally made to sway opinion to support actions that are illegal and war crimes then they are guilty of defrauding the public. That defrauding with the intention of supporting illegal activities and war crimes makes them guilty of same.

Will anyone prosecute them?

I seriously doubt it, but there is a legal basis and I am not about to ignore a law or give up on pointing out it's illegality just because of a lack of enforcement of it.

Why do Democrats on Capitol Hill support the war? Do you remember Cindy Sheehan? Why do you support Madame Speaker when she has not only not impeached the president she supports increasing funding for the war?

{Which for a LONG time, has NOT been about "defence" of our country; but rather, about USING OUR SOLDIERS RISKING THEIR LIVES TO INVADE COUNTRIES THAT WERE NO THREAT TO US.}

By NON-CO-OPERATION WITH EVIL, is meant WORK STOPPAGES; GENERAL STRIKES; SCHOOL WALKOUTS; and MILITARY-NON-CO-OPERATION WITHIN THE RANKS {"Combat REFUSAL"}. Especially, massive strikes by LONGSHORE WORKERS, PORT WORKERS, TRUCKERS, as have so spectacularly halted movement in other countries; as have halted China shipping arms to Darfur, for an example.

This will MOVE US FROM mere "PROTEST", to ACTUALLY STOPPING THE WAR. STOPPING THE EVIL. RENDERING AMERICA'S EVIL "LEADERS" INEFFECTIVE.
