It is NOT just for Americans my friend, NDAA also hits people from other countries - as well.

Yes, it means the U.S. military is allowed to detain anyone, anywhere in the world, for any length of ime, with no way for the victim to get help from the legal system.
The only reason they need is that the person is SUSPECTED of belonging to a terrorist group, or assisting it (both terms are pretty vague).
A direct order from the President is enough too.
The USSA also have about 900+ military bases in 130 countries.
Not just Americans should be worried.
This is clearly something only a totalitarian regime would to.
And again, with the blessing of the media.

The USSA never minded attacking foreign citizens, but with this bill, what s going to stop them from treating foreigners just as "well" as their citizens?

This was - or should have been - an expected event. Nobody should be shocked or even the slightest bit surprised about the LATEST in a LONG string of Civil Rights violations by the government and "law enforcement." (which has spread to state and local governments and law enforcement now).

However, the elephant in the room is the looming question: What are we going to do about it? Sharing and signing petitions is a great way to spread awareness, but it doesn't "do" anything to address the problem. That Americans are still in denial that "the government" - as a body (there are a few elected individuals who are not sociopaths) is going to suddenly, by some miracle, 1) over-night grows a conscience and give a rats bum about you and me, 2) over-night has a collective epiphany that fiat money and central banking are at the core of American's most urgent problems (that being 'financial' because me and you can not sustain a national budget that requires piling up DEBT (that is currently worth $16 TRILLION) to the tune of $1.6 TRILLION - EVERY YEAR, and 3) over-night it collectively decides to respect, defend, and PROTECT the U.S. CONSTITUTION (the 'law' that PROTECTS everyone from become VICTIMS of their "government," or what is more commonly knows as HONORING THEIR OATH OF OFFICE - which is their CONTRACT with YOU [Americans] not to screw you over (yet, they violate that oath in all of their breathing moments).

The following is an excellent article that will help put things into perspective relative to the issues facing each and every one of us - issues that dear ol' "uncle Sam" is NOT going to tell you about or even admit (as most of you here know we must go outside the government and it's media machine to get a glimpse of the realities that threaten our well-faring that if were known/understood by the masses there would be a revolution by the next morning): Sociopaths R Us

Shelly Peterson - yep you are right, it is a shame this video originates from Faux news.
Never the less it is not the messenger it is the message what counts.
Judge Andrew Napolitano exposing Obamas fascist regime one more time.

There is an other thing good with this Faux News message.
If something was televised, people believe and either accept or ignore.
We all know about the power of brainwashing media Shelly and how it is misused by the owner of the countries, the 0,1%.

Above that we really cannot say what Judge Napolitano says is untrue in any way.

Henriette - and I believe I can speak in her name posted this article to inform Americans and all those people worldwide whom it may concern, as they are DEFINITLY NOT aware of HR 347.

Shelly, Judge Napolitano is not a liar. In fact, his show on FoxBusiness channel, Freedom Watch, was just cancelled because he was being honest with his viewers and talking about important things like NDAA and HR347 (I heard not a single word about either from other mainstream TV media about either!!!). The Judge is a Constitutional expert and defender (this is why he supports Ron Paul). You should know this if you are as informed as you seem to be.

Yes, "FoxNews" is just as full of lies, BS and false propaganda as CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, and their affiliates - but why throw the baby out with the bath water? I mean, if the neighbor you absolutely detested (because he's a known liar and a cheat) banged on your door at 10:00 p.m. to alert you to danger, would you just not open the door because you don't like him? I hope that's not the case but it kinda sounds like that.

A new bill QUIETLY INTRODUCED by congress last week is causing quite a stir among civil liberties groups.
The brainchild of senators John McCain and Joe Lieberman, the bill would give the United States government the power to indefinitely detain terror suspects without charge or trial.
It would also allow the government to interrogate them for the intelligence value and it doesn't make a distinction between US citizens and non-citizens.

To be fair, Obama doesn't make up bills on his own, they come to him after being passed by both the House and the Senate. So, if we want to control our future, then we need politicans in Congress to draft bills that help Americans so vote out the Congress people who voted for this bill. But, don't blame Obama and believe me, I am pretty annoyed about him right now and am not defending him but let's stay with facts.

Obama did not have to sign off on this law, but he did and he is responsible for his own acts of anti-American Constitution legislation.
Sorry Democrats, Obama is not delivering change, hope, transparency or freedom.
I certainly am not for Republican Corporatism but the Fascist NWO is being promoted by BOTH major parties. I voted for Obama, or should I say I voted against Bush. Now there is nobody to vote for...
This is scary, we are on our own.
This situation is real, we need a strong Independent candidate for President.
One who will fearlessly support what American people want, not one who dictates their personal or religious wishes.
The people need to take their country back.
No fixed election is going to do that for us.
Keep on doing what we have always done and we will keep on getting what we have always gotten.

"but it's important for anyone reading what you wrote to understand it is an utter fiction, and anti-American in its falsehood."

Paul Craig Roberts - Silencing The Critics In 2010 the FBI invaded the homes of peace activists in several states and seized personal possessions in what the FBI–the lead orchestrator of fake “terrorist plots”–called an investigation of “activities concerning the material support of terrorism.”

Subpoenas were issued to compel antiwar protestors to testify before grand juries as prosecutors set about building their case that opposing Washington’s wars of aggression constitutes giving aid and comfort to terrorists. The purpose of the raids and grand jury subpoenas was to chill the anti-war movement into inaction.

First, it's up to C2 who has "business on Care2" - not you. And, I was wondering... are you under the impression that your comment to Henriette resembles anything like honesty, integrity? Is that what you call honorable? If so, you are mistaken. Your comment was a personal attack, which by the by, is against Care2's Code of Conduct.

Also, maybe you could fill us in about what makes Obama supporters like you so supportive of a lying, treasonous President who assassinates American citizens at will without due process, who kills little babies and children in far away lands with his 'drones', who likes to give our money to people who already have more money than they could ever spend in two lifetimes, who has piled on $4 TRILLION MORE national debt since he took office, etc.? Do you people have any concept of economics and money? I almost feel like I should as if you have any concept of liberty, freedom, your Constitution - at all?

Katii L (124)
Sunday March 25, 2012, 7:16 am
Angelika, Ron Paul does not "belong" to the GOP. In fact, that he doesn't is what sets him far apart from all of the other candidates. Paul belongs to 'himself' and nobody else. He has never been for sale and has never sold out where all others wouldn't be in politics to begin with if they hadn't sold out immediately.

A political party is not what makes a person. It's the persons that make the party. Unfortunately, the peasant members of these two parties (everyone who makes less than $5 Million/year), Democrat and Republican, are not in charge of their parties. The political class and the banksters are in charge of both parties - the very people the 'peasants' are so pissed off at. And as soon as enough 'peasants' accept this truth and REJECT BOTH parties (fire them! - flood their office with 10's of millions of "letters of resignation" (you'll be supporting the USPS in doing so ;)), the sooner we can start taking control of OUR government!

What is so wrong with Rocky Anderson? Well, IMO, he's a smart man, maybe a better choice than Obama, but his policies ? "tax/borrow/spend". He has no plan to address the causes of our country's very serious problems, the most urgent right now being "financial." Rocky, last I checked, had not even addressed the Federal Reserve, the debt, spending cuts, or the U.S. government's debt crisis.

Thanks Katii and youre right, sorry for the bad choice of word there. I meant to say " a member of.." (in German "belong" stands for both). Anyway, what is he doing in that party in the first place, being the "one-off" exceptional type they describe him to be?
Should he run for office, I cannot imagine he'll be getting much support by his GOP colleagues and if the right wing wins the House again Americans should well know what to expect.

I would love to support " R. Anderson and his Justice Party? "
He just does not support legalizing marijuana, something I feel must be done to end the largest prison system that has ever existed on Planet Earth.
This issue was the first and most signed petition in Obama's petition project.
Obama refused to listen to his constituients and just recited the same old propaganda while refusing to address the issue of marijuana prohibition.

"A prohibition law strikes a blow at
the very principles upon which our
government was founded."
- Abraham Lincoln

"I place no hope in Obama or the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party is a pathetic example of liberal, bourgeois impotence, hypocrisy and complacency. It has been bought off. I will vote, if only as a form of protest against our corporate state and an homage to Polanyi's brilliance, for Ralph Nader. I would like to offer hope, but it is more important to be a realist. No ethic or act of resistance is worth anything if it is not based on the real. And the real, I am afraid, does not look good." Chris Hedges

I fully agree with you and Henriette and I am also a believer in R Paul, a man with plenty experience and lots of common sense. Just why must he be a member of GOP, being the outsider with hardly any friends and supporters within his party?Just what exactly are the topics of the right wing that Paul also represents?

noted and thanks for the post Henriette. Obama made Freedom of Speech Protest a felony last week, when he passed HR347, thereby taking another bite out of our first amendment right. Are we to become a nation in chains, with no voice and no option but to blindly obey? I guess seeing OWS made him move his ass toot sweet, and this law was put into effect so people would not rally or protest for fear of up to 10 yrs in jail and a heavy fine. He, along with congress..except for three members have spit on the Constitution. I would rather go to jail, than to cow tow. Here is a link to a Youtube video about the Ron Paul Revolution

Angelika, Ron Paul is a member of the Republican party because he's a REAL Republican and he believes in the conservative philosophy that the GOP originally stood for: limited government, balanced budgets, low taxation, and economic freedom. I think the better question would be:

"Why are all those others running and serving as Republicans when they don't believe in OR represent Republican - or American (this goes for Democrats too) - values?"

In other words, Ron Paul is among a handful of "Republicans" who still represent the core principles of the Republican platform. It's 99% of all so-called Republican elected and hopefuls that should be asked, "What are you doing in the Republican party??"

Like all things, it seems, in America today, the "why is RP a Republican" thing is BACKWARDS. To find/see the truth, we do much better to understand what's 'really' going on if we turn upside down everything the government and it's powerful masters claim or tell us. If it's going to pollute the skies they call the Act "Blue Skies Initiative" - if it's going to dumb down out kids further they call it "No Child Left Behind", and so on.

Katii: "..that the GOP originally stood for:" - STOOD for... Ok, there you have it, that's exactly what I meant.
If a party or any organization that one is a member of undertakes such drastic changes in core that do not meet the original philosophy and goal any longer, that person does well leaving this organization.
We had similar cases here with our politicians and the brave ones decided to get out and remain "parteilos" (non partisan/ independant) to make their policy from then on.

On a separate note, I am curious who the other 4 Repubs of that handful might be...?

Angelika, should we the people just "leave" (abandon) the U.S. Constitution because the government has? Based on your argument that is what you're advocating. I could not disagree more.

Besides, when was the last time America elected a President that didn't belong to the Demlican/Republicrat party? 100 years or so?

Why would any sane person run Indy or 3rd party for President if they are assured they will never be elected?

Do you really think Gary Johnson or Rocky Anderson or any other third party candidate believes they have a chance in hell to get elected on a Libertarian or Justice Party ticket? No. They don't (not talking local politics here). Both of them are in 'this' race ONLY to gain more public recognition that they hope to capitalize on in 2016 when they will run again, HOPING to be nominated by one of the ruling parties next time around so they have a chance in hell of getting elected.

Republican Gary Johnson only 'left' the 2012 GOP race to run on the Libertarian ticket because the GOP black-balled him, but he entered the GOP race because he's a "Republican." He was elected twice as a "Republican" Governor (NM), and he very successfully for NM PRACTICED the Republican platform philosophies doing it, just as Paul PRACTICES the (existing) Republican platform as a U.S. Representative.

Until the PEOPLE quit the parties it would be fool-hardy for anyone hoping to be elected President. Paul is no fool.

"On a separate note, I am curious who the other 4 Repubs of that handful might be...?" -Angelika Look it up. It's your job to know who is in Congress - who's writing and passing laws, what they stand for, and how they vote.
