Recently a woman who runs a volunteer agency in rural Kenya wrote about the benefits of solar cookers for villagers and she was wondering why such a simple and potentially transformative existing technology has not been more popular.

Too easy. What a great and simple idea. Much of the time many of these places are in drought so have plenty of sun which will make these cookers very effective. It always seems that the cheapest and the best ideas are disregarded. Great post Scuba.

My mother has a solar cooker/baker simular to this one in Minnesota USA. It works great!

Friend of mine here in northern CO uses one...very cool. I am going to get her to help me with one this summer.
