Governor Christie signed A.2023/S.1976 on Friday making it illegal to slaughter horses for human consumption in New Jersey. The law also prohibits the sale of horse meat for human consumption, bans the transport of live horses for the purpose of slaughter

This is great for New Jersey horses, but doesn't help those in other states or countries.

Horses should not be slaughtered anywhere, in the US, for human consumption somewhere else. If horsemeat is banned for human use, here in the US, it definitely is wrong to slaughter horses to be consumed in France or elsewhere. Let them slaughter their own darn horses or LET THEM EAT CAKE!

Well Done, New Jersey, and Gov. Christie!! Perhaps the other states will realize that this is the right thing to do, and hopefully follow suit. Thanks for saving these beautiful animals, as well as setting an example for the other states. The more animals we can save, the better for them and for this world.
