Do you know any women who refer to themselves as their dog's mom? Many of today's dog owners consider themselves a pet parent (rather than dog owner), since they have a dog at home rather than children, and they give their dogs the day-to-day care

Many of today's dog owners consider themselves a pet parent (rather than dog owner), since they have a dog at home rather than children, and they give their dogs the day-to-day care one would give a child. So it's no wonder that Mother's Day is beginning to include devoted dog moms.

I consider my dog as my child. Since losing my five year old to a drunk driver I never had anymore children and I treat and take care of my canines the way (if not better) that I would treat my children. My animals are the love of my life, will do anything for them, go to any expense to take care of them and often times feels as if my animals are my only family or friends and I live today because of them. When I lost my pup Kiwi last year after 13yrs. I was totally lost. Didn't have much ambition or desire to get out and do much of anything for myself. Then Cricket got dropped into my lap and life was back on again.

Happy Mothers Day to you to Dianne..
Yep not much difference, from potty training and play dates, to teaching them right from wrong , time outs and thinking what the future holds.

The only real difference is my kids never had to wear cines after argueing, and I can't say "I hope you have kids just like you one day for some cosmic payback" lol

It does not matter if you have children with two or four feet or fins, you are a mom.
